We loved our stay and were so happy we chose the Compass Rose. The suite was spacious and comfortable. The location was wonderful, within easy walking distance of everything but tucked away behind a lovely courtyard so it was quiet and private. We loved the bunny rabbit that visited the courtyard :-) Fresh baked cookies, port, and other treats were in constant supply. Addison and Kenzie were so helpful, professional, and friendly. The breakfast was very good and nicely done. We would love to stay here again.

Rooms were spacious, lots of charm we were faked out because it looked older, but it was new construction with an older flare. All amenities looked new. Lookout over the river was nice. Short walk ( or crawl) to many eating spots and stores

Kim and Addison were wonderful hosts. Compass Rose has cozy and beautiful indoor and outdoor space. Within walking to the wharf park, lots of shopping and eating places to explore. Central to a lot of New England. Newburyport is a charming town!

The Innkeeper, Janet, was phenomenal! She was so attentive! Delicious meals and recommendations were provided with lots of attention to detail. The inn is in a perfect location — walking distance to shops and restaurants.

Great location, walking distance to everything. Allows us a zero stress gateway with off street parking, three room suites, common areas for socializing and private area with the fireplace. We bring extra duraflame logs.

The Gem of Newburyport!

The Compass Rose did not disappoint! Each detail was thought out to perfection. The beautiful lobby, lovely rooms, most with working fireplaces (Duraflame included), great location and the nicest, smartest innkeeper I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting. We will absolutely be back to Newburyport solely to stay at this marvelous inn.

Janet, the hostess/innkeeper, was wonderful - efficient, welcoming, charming and delightful. The room was fine, although the room temperature was not able to be controlled by guests. The breakfasts were excellent. We would certainly return and would recommend the inn to friends. It is very conveniently located. But Janet was the best - we really appreciated her assistance and information.
