"This is a wonderful chateau. Our room was very comfortable and inviting. The views and the grounds are beautiful. My only negative comment is that the lighting in the bathroom is weak - a single light in the center of the room so no lighting over the sink. "

"I was always taught not to kick a dog when it’s down, however I feel compelled to write a comprehensive review of the failings of this Château. Whatever the history of Château de la Bainerie it matters not. Those currently in charge of looking after and managing this Château clearly do not have the skills, motivation or mindset to do a good job."

"The host was wonderful, really helpful, booking a restaurant for us, and checking that we had what we needed. The kitchen is fine but is a galley and cramped for more than two people at a time. Facilities there are OK and all the basics are there. House was clean and well equipped and the beds were comfortable "

"First off, I cannot fault the host, Marie, who was warm and welcoming when we arrived and was quick to respond to any issues we had during our stay. The property is very much as per the pictures in the listing with the upstairs being light and airy but the downstairs is rather dark. Although we didn't use it, the games room looked like it could be fun and give older children a space of their own. The pool is great. It is clean and well maintained and Marie's husband comes by every other day to check it out.The location is good and generally peaceful, although the road running next to the property is used as a bit of a cut through. We have stayed in rural France many times so know what to expect but we did at least expect to be able to find an open restaurant in one of the neighbouring towns. Perhaps it was the time of the year we went as many were closed for all or a large part of August. The addition of WiFi would boost the overall review score and be a big help to those without unlimited data roaming."

"Really peaceful, lovely rooms and a warm welcome. Really good continental breakfast. There was even a kettle and decent teabags! This hotel is excellent value for money. Immaculately clean, lovely bathrooms. The rooms were spacious and comfortable - modern rooms but in keeping with the traditional rustic building. The hotel has an honesty bar where you can get a beer (but not much else) although there's no drinks or facilities to make bake a drink in the rooms. The village itself is very quiet - nothing to do apart from go for a walk. The next village along, Brulon, had a few more restaurants/cafes. We ate in the restaurant next to the hotel - worth booking ahead as it didn't look like they did walk-ins. The hotel booked us a table the day before we arrived. We would definitely stay here again and wish we'd stayed more than one night - if you're looking for a comfortable, peaceful overnight stopover, this hotel is perfect."
