"What an amazing place this is!! Everyone was telling me that I needed to stay in a Ryokan while I was in Japan and the Asunaro was the PERFECT place to experience a traditional Japanese inn. "Beautiful cultural experience. Having your own onsen and choice of the public onsen was very nice. We did not think the seiki breakfasts and dinner were worth the astoundingly expensive price. I would next time not book the meals, exorbitant cost at nearly $300 each time"

"Everything was quiet. The staff were kind and, between our broken Japanese and their broken English, we could communicate. Our room was nicer than expected. It was our first ryokan. Everything seemed old but well cared for, and it gave the place a comforting character."

"This hotel located on the remote area and you need to drive here. If the hotel is good, it's worth for it. However, there are few points you need to consider if you want to book this hotel. (1) No bottled water provide (2) Poor customer service and poor English, you cannot communciate with them if you dont know Japanses. "The hotel is a good stopover for visiting here. What the hotel could improve is there breakfast, this wasn’t great, the coffee was good but you could only have one drink so either tea, coffee or a juice. The other slightly annoying thing is, we checked in at 2:45 and had to wait 15 mins before we were aloud up to our room. The room was ready as there was only 5 other rooms booked. If it’s ready let your customers go to their room early, pointless and very jobs worthy."

"This is an apartment unit for the price of a capsule hotel. It comes with a laundry machine, a fully equipped kitchen, a bathroom, a washroom, and a bedroom with a dining area. The AC is nicely positioned away from the bed. It also has a pretty decent TV. And the front desk was able to provide extra bottles of water upon request. They also give you a free gift if you request no cleaning, ranging from beer to alcohol wipes. It is 1 minute from Nohi bus station and 2 minutes from Takayama station. It is also a short 8 minute from this amazing grocery store called Boss Food Markets. You can also use the Onsen from Wat hotel and Spa, which is 10 minutes away."

Fantastic hotel with an onsen

"Great hotel in Takayama literally a 3-minute walk from the train station. Stayed here two nights in May 2025. Very modern, comfortable hotel with outstanding service. Breakfast buffet provided every type of cuisine you can imagine from French to Italian to Japanese to American. The staff are all so warm and hospitable. "

Location-location-location! And so nice!

"Super clean, quiet, the staff was so nice, the hotel was stunning!! I don't know if it was renovated, but wow. The LOCATION is by far INCREDIBLE!!!!!!!! Right outside the train station, you don't even need to cross the street! And somehow it's quiet! You can walk 8min to the old city. Beautiful. You can be first to the Nohi bus! Super convenient!!! Only this hotel! I wouldn't think twice if I came back! "
