"This house, part of which was built in the 1500s, is more than a villa: it's a total experience. The entire estate is imbued with the feel of a grander era, from the statuary in the hedges, to the manicured lawns, to the high-ceilinged bedrooms, to the artful sconces in the upstairs hallway, to the illuminated statue at the bottom of the stairs, to the magnificent views. The house is decorated with original art, lots of books, and comfortable furniture in almost every room. There's a sense of luxuriousness and well-planned design everywhere you turn, and Gretchen couldn't have been more accomodating. She even picked up two members of our party from the train station, which we were deeply grateful for. I can't recommend Villa Poggio Verde higly enough. The extra bonus is the list of day trips provided by Gretchen, all of which provided to be memorable experiences."

"The hotel is for sale and nobody had stayed there recently. He was quite surprised when we turned up. Restaurant shut and no where to eat within walking distance. Breakfast was 2 slices of cake and a coffee. Very expensive for what we got. "

"If you check the 5 star reviews here some have unrelated pictures or are made by people who only give 5 star reviews. These are made by paid review farms to artificially boost the star rating. Sadly, I was duped and booked this place for my family through Expedia for a non-refundable rate. Firstly, it's not located where Google maps has it. It's located behind the Fiorista Adda (towards the lake). The receptionist was nice enough to contact us on Whatsapp and stay in touch with us until we arrived. The room was pretty big with high ceilings but had very odd decor. The lights were dingy and dark. The shower had no curtain and was open to the entire large bathroom. There was no toilet paper holder, just a small black stool as a makeshift holder. The flush buttons were broken and I figured out it was the small metal button at the bottom near the bidet. There was a weird textured styrofoam tile in various places and mismatched wall designs. The biggest problem was, after my wife showered, the hot water ran out while my son was showering and he had to finish in freezing cold water. The electric hot water heater and tank was in the bathroom and made a very loud rumbling that was extremely irritating that can be heard on the queen bed outside. We waited for a while and there was no hot water. Nobody could help because it was past 8:30pm. Also the wifi was very spotty. My sons didn't sleep well on the sofa beds because the mattresses were too thin. Overall, disappointing! Don't book!"

"Overnight stay on our way to Lake Como. Pity it was raining as the castle grounds would have been wonderful to walk around. The host is very pleasant and welcoming. The site is over 2000 years old with additions added during the renaissance, has been been nicely renovated"
