The Villa was clean overall. However, there's no washer and dryer in the Villa or onsite. The Villa also lacked a microwave and refrigerator. The carpet is rather dated (shag). The workout room is great. However, you do have to either drive or walk a short distance to the front desk to get to it. The breakfast was very poor and disappointing. Overall, the stay was okay and the location was nice but could be much better with amenities

Management alert!

Rancho Viejo is a gated community planned around a nice golf course. It features an outdoor driving range with cafe and a 4 star restaurant. We are locals and rent a guest suite regularly when we don't feel like driving to South Padre Island for a long weekend. The golf course is maintained nicely and we enjoy going to the community pool which features a belly-up bar and a hot tub and a large "waterfall" feature. We've swam in the Rancho Viejo pool many times and have watched the area deteriorate steadily. At present, there are large patches of black mold under the "waterfall" feature which is highly disturbing. As more community families pour into the pool we have wactched large pool parties with dozens of children consume pizza and drinks while in the actual pool area and are unattended by parents. Our last visit, I was looking forward to just relaxing by the pool, unfortunately every recliner and chair was filthy with food remains and bird poo. I had a few napkins in my purse and tried cleaning my chair, but the napkin turned black before I was half way thru the process. Again, this area has become a free for all with unattended children with no care for the actual facility. I truly hope the management does something about the black mold in the pool and filthy pool chairs as we will probably not return as guests.

The scenery is beautiful, they have a bar, restaurant, and small convenience store on the property. But you can’t beat relaxing outside by the water and so much to do, golf, fishing, biking, etc… so much to do.

Run down and poorly maintained hotel

This hotel is poorly maintained. The carpets were full of dark spots, walls with humidity stains and bathroom trims with cracks and faucets full of stains. They only a have three small park spaces per unit so if you are driving an oversized vehicle good luck! I am now questioning the rating process from Hotels.com because according to ratings this is rated “very good” with 8.4 and that is not true! I will give him “fair” at the best.

The resort is a lovely oasis. The property is a bit dated but it is very well maintained. The scenery is gorgeous, staff is on top of everything. Very safe and clean. Good breakfast buffet. Amazing pool vibe!

A good alternative to traditional hotels. The property is green, it has water frontage, and it invites walking/strolling. Rooms though are tired and need refreshing. (Why shag carpet in humid South Texas? Why no fridge in the room? Why not more comfortable chairs in the room?)

The suite was very outdated. Couch was overly worn and sinking in the middle. Front door was filthy. It felt like walking in to your aunt & uncles house back in the early 80’s. Grounds were kept well around the golf course and restaurant.

Great Night's Stay

The Resort is a great place to stay in the valley and this villa was the best. Beautiful view of golf course, pond and tons of white pelicans. The villa was well appointed and very comfortable.
