Other Things to Note:
Mary Lemon was a young midwife from Orange. With her family, she was an active member of the Orange community. Born in 1892 she lived with her parents before moving to Young to work as a midwife just after WWII. Upon her return to Orange, she helped deliver many of Orange’s babies. Mary lived up the road in one of Moulder street’s historic homes. Like Mary, this early Victorian era timber terrace has a rich history. Built around 1865 this historic building, with high ceilings and wood fire is one of Orange’s remaining hardwood terraces. We have named our cottage after Mary as an appreciative nod to the work of Mary and her nursing colleagues who, as a young child, lived through the first pandemic.
