The Pioneer Motel is nice, but basic. I do not agree that it is a "boutique" motel. You receive the minimum in amenities. The hotel is in a good location and a good starting point for local sights. We stayed there during the Alaska State Fair and it met our needs just fine.

Room was clean and the furniture seemed pretty good for the price. Having a kitchen in the unit was super nice. It was nice being able to park right outside the door to the unit. Staff was super friendly and helpful, and the self-check in process was very convenient.

Clean and well maintained motel. Comfortable mattress. Nice to have a fridge and a microwave. The location is conveniently located to a supermarket and restaurants. It is not Ritz Carlton but exceeded my expectations for a motel.
