"A historic palace with service to match — and one small fix needed We stayed at the Alvear for a long weekend in Recoleta and it lived up to its reputation. The location is excellent: quiet, elegant, and within walking distance of the neighbourhood’s best restaurants and cafés, with easy access to the rest of the city. The building itself is a real treat — a historic palace, beautifully maintained, with the kind of detail and grandeur you rarely find in modern hotels. Staying there feels like part of the experience rather than just a place to sleep. The staff are consistently warm and attentive, and the concierge service deserves a special mention: it is genuinely a cut above. You can reach them easily by WhatsApp, which made everything effortless — we booked restaurants and theatre tickets well in advance without a single complication. Extremely convenient. My only criticism is a small one: the scrambled eggs at breakfast were poor — so much so that I couldn’t finish them on any morning. It’s a minor detail in an otherwise outstanding hotel, and an easy one to put right."

"Good stay for the price!! It’s quite a small room, but if you’re out exploring, it’s good for a sleep. The shower was fine, even though there were some water coming out near the water handle. Doesn’t affect the shower, but it is wasting water. We were a 20 minute walk from the Teatro cologne. There are good restaurants, nearby and everywhere in the city seems to be about a $5 Uber ride. We were also a few blocks away from the hop on hop off bus stop if you’re looking to do that."

"The hotel didnt let us book one room for a family of 4, so we booked 2 rooms. However, when we got there, the front desk person told us it was no problem, they hae 2 queen beds in a room. But it was too late, the charge had already been made through expedia. But in the future, a couple with two kids, can stay in one room. Hotel is 10min away from the airport and the shuttle runs every hour. It was perfect."

"Great Experience During My Stay: Stayed there July 2026 and was pleased with how great the staff (Marisol, Brenda and Paloma) were. Their quick responses and attending to requests was amazing. Hotel is great for budget travelers and is in a safe area. I found it to be well located to get to other places and rooms are pretty clean. Only heads up for Argentina travelers is make sure to check the weather as July is their winter and not most ideal for site seeing etc. The locals recommend December as best time to travel there. Umar."
