"This hostel is better than the pictures advertised, the staff are very friendly and respectful. Plenty of room in the main area to hangout and meet people. Front door is a buzz to open door, which I’m sure makes some people feel more safe. Hostel also offers massage services and I think they do 10 minutes for free with purchase. They have a small shop next door if you need snacks, drinks or a beer, in the back of the shop they have electric scooters you can rent. Staff are very lenient with things but are strict on the 12AM rule if you are out in the main area you shouldn’t be making loud noises which is understandable. There are many restaurants/ pubs close by here. La cali, China town, downtown are close walking distance from the hostel. Overall the only thing I’m able to complain about is alcohol if you are drinker like me just walk to a bar nearby haha don’t forget to give the kitty pets he likes to hangout by this hostel a lot "

"The tricky lady at the front desk tried to charge us twice for the breakfast. Parking place is a nightmare, always closed, dark, alone and you must go out of your car to ask (almost beg) for somebody to walk and open the gate. They offer amenities like a hair dryer. Lie. You must call and wait a long time for it. It was a good expensive hotel. Now its only expensive."

"I’m currently staying at the Hotel Santo Tomas and it’s a total standout. The building was originally built in 1908, and they’ve done an incredible job maintaining that historic character while keeping everything comfortable. Even though you’re right downtown and close to everything, the property feels like a private oasis. Once you step inside, you completely forget you’re in the middle of a busy city. It’s quiet, incredibly beautiful, and the layout is perfect. The pool area is excellent... very lush and a great place to reset. They also include a solid free breakfast that actually hits the spot. If you want a place with real history and a peaceful vibe right in the heart of San Jose, stay here. I’ll definitely be back."

"I stayed there for the second time after a two day trip elsewhere. My first room was good but the second one was even better. Beautiful, well furnished and spotlessly clean. I had dinner in the restaurant and although a little pricey the food was tasty and had an originality about it. The free breakfast was very good and set me up for the day. I wouldn’t hesitate to book this hotel again, it was brilliant. "
