Balut is a 14 to 21-day old fertilized duck egg depending on how developed one wants the duck embryo is. Balut is a common street food that has its origins in China. Pateros is the balut-capital of the Philippines. Balut is boiled and then eaten with salt or some spiced vinegar. The way to eat balut: crack the shell, peel it bit by bit, slurp the soup (cooked amniotic fluid of the chick) before eating the egg and embryo. It is a favorite street food in the Philippines as it is cheap and nutritious. Another version for the less squimish is Penoy. It is an unfertized duck egg that is boiled. "Stayed for 2 nights in a shared female dormitory. The room was comfortable to sleep in. You have your own bathroom in your room but the hot and cold shower was kinda confusing it goes super hot and super cold. They have common bathrooms too but needs maintenance. Good location for the party districts and also walking distance to Century City Mall. If your planning to go to Ayala, Makati it is also walking distance around 30 mins. The hotel is kinda artsy.
