Perfect for the imperfections
This is our second stay at Barns Tower and our first Christmas. There’s no words to describe how fantastic it is, the history, location and furnishings, it’s just perfect.
The imperfections are the signs of its history, the lost stains above the fireplace, the marks on the limewash.
The only thing that is truly terrible about Barns Tower is leaving it to go home.

Unique place to stay in a great location.
Really unique memorable holiday place to stay, The Tower was totally as advertised, perhaps even better, great fun for a few days away. Lovely location with the most beautiful walk along the Tweed into Peebles and back. The Tower was cosy, lots of stairs of course, plenty or room for 2 plus 2 dogs. Loads of wood included for fires.
The stay in Barns Tower was amazing. It is an unique, true tower building. The place was very clean, supplied well, and well kept. We also completed the Neidpath Castle tour with Lulu, and it was a must see tour. We were very happy with our stay there. Vic and Jen, Kansas, USA

A magical stay!
Barns Tower exceeded our expectations. We were looking for a personal castle stay, but for only two people. This place delivered! The drive in is beautiful, and there is a gorgeous walking path all around that will take you to many pastures of adorable livestock to watch frolic. The tower itself is so magical I want to live there! From the old staircases and historical references and touches, to the luxury touches like heated bathroom floors, fresh eggs and bread, and a collection of games and dvds, this place did not disappoint. We will be coming back, all the way from Canada!

Three night stay in a castle
Three night stay in Barns Tower was amazing. It had everything we could wish for for an atmospheric stay over Halloween. We especially loved the big wood burning fires in both the kitchen and sitting room and we made good use of both. Exceptionally clean, with lovely walks in the surrounding area. We just can’t wait to return. Very cosy indeed

A special experience
What a wonderful experience! The setting, atmosphere, history, and accommodations were amazing! Although intimidated at first by the steepness and uneveness of the stairs. we adapted quickly. We appreciated the provisions that were waiting for us (and we made full use of them!) and we loved exploring the area.

Transport back in time.
Barns Tower was everything we could have imagined. That being said it can be challenging to stay there as there is a lot of steps to contend with as every living space is on a different level. Think of a lighthouse. Loved how it was decorated in period furnishings to give you the feel of being transported back centuries. There are a few modern conveniences though. The grounds are truly amazing and so peaceful. If your up to having a very unique experience this is the place. We're so very happy we did it.

Excellent place,
Excellent place to stay. Nice welcome pack. Great location with easy access to riverside walks and Peebles. Quite quirky practicalities around open fires., but they are a great part of the stay. Sitting room couch and kitchen seats need an upgrade, they are tired, but servicable. Bath in the bedroom is a nice feature. Definitely worth a visit. Thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

A tower through time
We were not disappointed by anything that this wonderful historic building offered.
Comfortable but not contemporary and conveying a real sense of history through the very fabric of the tower itself.
Closing the big wooden door gave us a sense of splendid isolation.
We loved every moment here and all that the magnificent surrounding countryside provided.

Barns Tower
My wife and I both enjoyed our stay at Barns Tower. We were looking for something unique and different for our 30th Wedding Anniversary. And we got it.
We loved the authenticity along with the mod cons to make the stay comfortable. Peaceful is a word often used but we really found it here. The supplies left were a lovely thought too.
Peebles itself was lovely to visit, very friendly and we had a lovely meal at the Crown.
The evening was spent with a nice bottle of champagne and a roaring fire after another lovely meal at the Peebles Spa Hotel.
All in all we had a fabulous time.
What a unique and lovely stay! We have stayed in dozens of vacation rentals around the world and this one was the most unique. The tower takes you back in time to another world while providing all of the modern amenities you need. The rural setting, while still close to town, was so beautiful and just perfect for strolling the country lanes. Eggs, fruit, bread, butter, jam, coffee, tea, and shortbread were an unexpected treat. The only thing to note about this lodging is that you have to climb sets of fairly steep stairs to get to each of the three levels, so if you have mobility issues, I would recommend staying in one of the other properties available. We would happily return to Barns Tower or any of the other properties provided by Lulu and her team.

Beautiful stay at Barns Tower
We had a fantastic stay at Barns Tower in early January. Despite being very cold outside, the house warmed up well and was very cosy. It snowed, making it even more magical! Peebles is a lovely town with a nice butcher, pubs etc. to stock up on supplies. We loved being so close to the River Tweed and enjoyed a walk to Neidpath Castle along the river path at dusk, which would have been great for birdwatchers. The kitchen was well equipped and they had provided some essentials for us (milk, eggs, bread) which was much appreciated. Bed was comfy, the bath and shower were both nice. We didn't really want to leave the house but did venture out a little bit, enjoying a walk at Cademuir woodland a short drive away. It was pretty much a perfect stay!

Romantic historic stay by the Tweed
A return trip to Barns Tower for us, again for a valentine’s holiday. And the Tower did not disappoint with its external walls freshly painted, the Tower was again standing proud in the tweed side setting. The ambience in this historic peel tower is just lovely, while fitted with all the modern amenities that you need the open fires, decoration, spiral staircase, vaulted ground floor, cosy sitting room and lovely en suite bedroom give you a real feel of the past. The views from the windows are lovely and at this time of the year the snowdrops and crocus were lighting up the borders in all directions. We enjoyed a lovely walk into Peebles for dinner returning in the dark by moonlight. Also spent a lovely afternoon having lunch and walking round Dawyck Botanic Gardens. Thank you to Lulu and Katarina.

A Truly Enchanting Stay at Barns Tower
We had the absolute pleasure of staying at Barns Tower for our friends’ wedding weekend at Neidpath Castle, and it was one of the most unique and charming accommodations we've ever experienced. Nestled in the peaceful countryside just minutes from the castle, the tower felt like something out of a medieval fairytale; with the perfect blend of rustic history and cozy comfort.
From the moment we arrived, we were enchanted. The spiral staircase, stone walls, and wood-beamed ceilings made every room feel like a step back in time. And yet, the modern touches; plush bedding, a fully equipped kitchen, and a beautiful bathroom. This made the stay so relaxing and comfortable. We especially loved gathering in the open-plan living space for coffee in the mornings, with the soft light pouring in and views of the surrounding hills.
Barns Tower was not only a beautiful home base for exploring the area, but also a special part of the entire wedding experience. It was such a joy to be just a short drive from Neidpath Castle, and we loved returning to this serene retreat after each magical event. Everything was spotless, thoughtfully prepared, and truly one-of-a-kind.
If you're looking for accommodation with soul, history, and charm, Barns Tower is it. It made an unforgettable weekend even more meaningful, and we feel so lucky to have stayed here.
What an interesting and wonderful property. It was cozy and well equipped. The fireplaces really added to the authenticity.

Totally beautiful
This is such a wonderful place. It is totally beautiful in every way. The design is stunning, a perfect balance maintaining the feel of the original character of the place whilst also having the comfort of all the modcons! A lot of flight of stairs so probably not ideal for the very young or elderly but perfect for everyone else! Also wonderful walks from the Tower.

Stunning tower house in beautiful grounds
We loved our stay in Barns Tower. It is a stunning historical timepiece. It is well equipped and the rooms are cosy. However, you need to be fit to climb the 4 flights of old stone/wood stairs. Also the doors are low and my husband bumped his head many times! There wasn't enough information about heating controls, hot water etc. Apart from that it was incredible!
