Pam was extremely welcoming and helpful.
Pam was extremely welcoming and helpful. A bottle of wine and a pint of milk in the fridge on arrival was a lovely touch, as was the offer of fresh veg from her allotment.
Within the current COVID epidemic the cottage was very clean with plenty of brand new cleaning products for washing etc, ensuring a relaxed carefree stay.
We’d recommend a walk through the fields and woods, along the river to the village centre where you can relax with a pint or food at one of the two pubs. (Open Thursday - Friday).
Keep your eye out for the fish and chip van who visits once a week in the car park by the bridge en route to Lazonby.
Overall a great stay, blessed with excellent weather, will definitely recommend and return!

Cosy cottage in a quiet situation.
Cosy cottage in a quiet situation. We found the Co-op in Lazonby well stocked and food at local pub Fetherstone Arms was excellent. Lots of lovely walks in the Eden Valley, and Ullswater not far away. Our dog had a wonderful time, as did the two of us!

Lovely comfortable cottage.
Lovely comfortable cottage. Very clean and nice wee extras like a bottle of wine and fresh flowers. Bed sheets were lovely quality and a nice firm bed. Nicely furnished, only criticism is that some kitchen basics were missing- no milk jug and only one sharp knife. But overall a fab place to stay with a friendly welcome and walks straight from the door.

Wonderful, peaceful and cosy 'get away', where we did nothing but relax.
Wonderful, peaceful and cosy 'get away', where we did nothing but relax. It's a lovely little cottage (next to the owners lovely farmhouse) which is spotless, comfy, and completely separate and private.
Pheasants, and birds abound, even in the lovely enclosed private garden which was wonderful for our dog, while the area in general is also great for good food and great pubs.
A truly relaxing break, which I hope we can repeat as soon as possible. Many thanks

Pam was very thoughtful and notified me ahead that I must make sure my rabbit had all his inoculations up to date. Also good communication generally, always answering an email promptly and coming to check things.
It's always less easy when the owner can't be around on your arrival day; the cleaner had overlooked some broken glass in the garden and there was no veg peeler among the kitchen equipment; the expel air wasn't working. The latter couldn't be sorted while I was there, but Pam sorted the rest out as soon as she knew about it.
It took me to the Sunday to find the official instructions folder (as mentioned by another reviewer, it's in the BOTTOM drawer of the bureau) but many instructions are to be found near the relevant items. Some people might want clear instructions for setting up their wifi if not familiar with where the little card might be lurking - all just things that need to be thought through if the owner can't be present when you arrive.
Have some spare data handy as the signal from the wifi does drop out quite a few times a day!
The kitchen is generally easy to keep clean; living room armchair covers could do with a freshen up; residual doggy smell in the carpets and from the vacuum cleaner.
Keep the bathroom window shut to minimise flies coming in - just an inevitable part of country living.
Notice that (as advertised) there is simply a shower, not a bath, so you can't conk out completely at the end of a long walk by having a restful soak! However the hot water is great - it does take quite a while to come through to the shower so just be patient.
Lovely sweet peas at my bedside and a bottle of wine which was most welcome after a 5 1/2 hour journey! Milk in the fridge was also very useful.
It was lovely looking from the kitchen window into the farmyard with wild bunnies running around and an occasional sighting of the hens; tawny owl and barn owls hooting, and countless other birds; lovely to walk down to Kirkoswald either via the road or across the fields and through the wood to Ravenghyll; nice walk the other way towards Scales.
Penrith and Carlisle are conveniently close; allow a good hour to get to Kendal, so allow a full day for a trip to the Lakes.
Lovely, quiet, peaceful location.

A spacious, charming cottage which is also cosy and in an excellent location for exploring the surrounding countryside. Set in a farm environment in a rural location it has everything you could need for a week away. A multi-fuel stove made for lovely warm evenings even though there was plenty of heat throughout the cottage, with each radiator independently controlled. I went with my dog and there were additional dog towels and treats as well as welcoming flowers and shortbread biscuits. We did a lot of walking and had quite a bit of kit for the week but there was room for everything with spacious wardrobes to put things out of sight. The TV was of good quality and there was a selection of novels as well as a bureau with information about the location and places to visit.
