The attractive village of Askham is centred around two village greens and has a well-stocked shop/off licence which is open seven days a week and two pubs, all within walking distance of the property. In the summer families can enjoy the outdoor heated swimming pool in the village. Not only does it have a 20 metre pool staffed by lifeguards but there is also a paddling pool, refreshments kiosk and picnicking area. This location offers easy access to the Lake District through Ullswater and Haweswater, or for the more adventurous to walk on the Helton Fells, enjoy water sports on Ullswater, or explore the beautiful Eden Valley. Ullswater can be reached by foot, 3 miles over the fells, and once there you can enjoy a scenic walk around the lake or take a trip on one of the cruisers which set sale from Glenridding and Pooley Bridge. There is also Lowther Birds of Prey Centre and Lowther Castle and Gardens, just a few minutes drive from the house. Shop, pub and restaurant 100 yards.
