It’s super-clean, with character and an historical ambience. We found so much to do in the Galena area, including nearby towns and the Galena River Trail. "We enjoyed this beautiful historic home with all the updated amenities. We especially enjoyed watching a family of foxes out the kitchen window in the early mornings and evenings. The kitchen area was easy and spacious. If you can walk hills, you'll love walking to and from downtown Galena."

"The home is nicely furnished. I like that people are able to leave Seasonings and condiments, etc. for the next guests to use. Made meal prep easier. There’s pots and pans and some storage containers for leftovers. We left a bundle of Gatorade’s, Hopefully the next people will enjoy them. It’s on a busy road. Appreciate using the driveway and bringing in luggage through the back door. They allow pets which we would like to bring our dog. Hopefully soon they will have a fenced area. We didn’t use...

"We really enjoyed this property. It was close to where our activities were for the weekend and was comfortable… we really looked forward to going “home” at the end of each long day out having fun. We will definitely rent this property again if we ever need to stay in the area."

"Overall it was fabulous! Only drawback was we had a issue with a toilet and notified the owner who responded promptly, yet the maintenance was not able to enter the property because we were out enjoying ourselves, not leaving our key in the lockbox. A suggestion would be that the maintenance/owner have access to another key besides what is given to their guests…..and if so would have rated all 5 stars."

"My family and I stayed for a wedding at Ashton Hill Farm. It was a great place for our family to hang out. Had everything we needed, very nicely decorated and comfortable. We had our dog with us and the doggie touches were nice and appreciated. Great backyard although we didn’t get to enjoy it as much as we wanted to. Would definitely stay there again and hope that we do."

"Weekend girls trip ages 27 to 86. Beautiful home within walking distance to the little shops, winery's and the most delicious restaurants. This hidden gem is as close as you can get to right out of a Hallmark movie. We will definitely return!"

"This is the second time we have stayed there. At Christmas we appreciated the beauty of the house. This time we appreciated the wide porches, beautiful view and wonderful gardens. We have a large family and there always seems to be enough room for everyone."

"Quick response to our question when we got there. Quiet and peaceful, I never heard the barges go by. Easy to find. Short drive to town for groceries and to Maquoketa Cave State Park. Daughters thought their beds upstairs were a little hard (personal preference), but the one downstairs was very comfortable. Well stocked kitchen. Best set of skillets I have seen in a rental."
