The Banyan Tree really exceeded our expectations! It was a first class experience from arrival to departure! The resort is exceptionally clean and the staff were constantly going above and beyond! We had such a peaceful and relaxing vacation, The property is exquisite and I loved being surrounded by nature. Eating breakfast each day outside overlooking the mangroves was one of my favorite parts. We received a complimentary upgrade to the wellness villa and it look my breath away. I especially loved the hot tub and outdoor shower. The staff went out of their way and knew our names, My husband is kosher and I did not realize the kosher restaurant closed until we arrived. The breakfast was kosher and they had kosher style dinners but he was more comfortable going into Plays del Carmen to eat at their kosher restaurants. The hotel employees are very kosher aware and staff knew what beverages are kosher and allowed him to turn on the stove for his omelette. They do a good job handling the sargassum and the barriers work for the most part but itā€™s still there although I found the water was clearer a short walk down the beach. Itā€™s not the clear aqua color of the Caribbean but what you lose there, you gain by staying at such a gorgeous property in nature and having a great deal of privacy. We took a day trip to isla mujeres one day to enjoy aqua water but to be honest we preferred just being at the hotel due to the service and luxurious amenities.

The moment we pulled up with our driver, we were in paradise, with flowing waters, bright highly maintained jungle foliage, & a welcoming team that gave us a Mayan welcome! We had the most amazing time at the resort. The room was white glove cleaned twice a day & evening turn down services. ALL staff members knew our name & greeted us very hospitable & got to know our likes & dislikes by memory. This was our first experience out of the country & what a memory it is! We made some awesome new friends from New York, we're from Arizona, & we're planning our next trip there already! Oh, & talk about accomodations, every & ALL accomodations were met, not only for us, but for each guest on property. No processed foods & I found that I'm obsessed with a lot of tropical items I've never had...the breakfast was literally... OUT...OF...THIS...WORLD! #FitForAKing(Or Queen) šŸ˜ #gaysafe Thank you team for the memories! ... Until we meet again.

You are paying for room space. The staff was wonderful. The food was priced high and just okay in my opinion. I actually got really sick, but not sure if it was from that property or the sister property since I only ate on site at both. I also had a little lizard incident, I don't like them in my room and I think cleaning staff left the door open so three were in there driving me crazy, I asked to be moved. It took roughly 2 hours to move me, but I did get a new room, lizard free. I will say the grounds were pretty and the ambiance was nice, the weather great. The property was also very quiet, which I actually loved as well. That said I was looking for really good food. My favorite food was breakfast, really great options and the beach service was good as well. I got married in Thailand so I was hoping the Thai food restaurant would be good, but it was meh and very expensive. The beach club area was nice, although it's not the nicest beach, the pool was beutiful and there was lots of space available to layout in sunchairs. I give it 3.5 stars all in all only because for almost 1k a night, I expect more, but maybe that's because I have stayed at properties well under that hit the mark across the board including food. I wanted the price to match the experience, but it was really more about the room space/type. Service is what I would expect at that price point. It won't be on my list of places to go back to, but it is a beautiful property.

Our Villa was not on the beach but it was spectacular. With a private pool and jacuzzi. It was family-friendly. Many activities for the kids. Bicycles were given to each family member. The beach area is amazing. It has a great restaurant and a nice pool. The restaurants at the hotel and at the other Mayakoba hotels are very good. The best part is the staff. They accommodate and coordinate everything you want. Our personal concierge Madai was GREAT!

Absolutely stunning, as always, at this property. Impeccably clean, every attention to detail was made, the staff is wonderful and friendly, and they provided an upgrade based on availability without even asking. This is the 4th time Iā€™ve stayed at the Property and I will continue to return, by far my favorite resort in the Riviera Maya area!

The staff at check in and out could use some hospitality training - this is our 4th stay and this has never improved although overall service at the resort has significantly improved aside from this. The amenities and location are wonderful and it is a beautiful resort. The waiters at the beach were excellent as always and should be given a shout out including Victor, Juan and Edwin

This is our 4th time staying at the Banyan Tree Mayakoba. The service has significantly improved over previous stays and we would rank it 9/10. The updated rooms are beautiful and the amenities are excellent. The food however for a hotel of this level could be significantly improved except for the Sands and Tomahawk restaurants. Also be prepared to 50+ burgers and a significant price tag for all food.

The property is an amazing mix of beach and the tropical lagoons. There is a great nature trail the goes around Mayakoba and is excellent for walking and cycling.

This was the most beautiful property Iā€™ve ever stayed at. The villas were beautiful with a private pool, cabanas, & outdoor bath. We loved having our bikes right outside our villa to bike to the beach. The food and service was incredible.
