By the time I arrived at the Duncraig Castle the sun was in probably the worst position for photography. There was no chance to photograph the castle from the ground as there was too much sun glare everywhere, so I brought my drone up in the air and tried to get the sun on my back. It worked and here is my favourite result. This spectacular Highland castle was built in 1866 located in beautiful wooded grounds in a stunning coastal setting overlooking Plockton, Loch Carron and the Applecross Peninsula. It is just about to open again for the public after a long extensive renovation, so make sure you stop by if you in the area.

"WATCH OUT!!!! This property, and the people we interacted with for the reservation via Expedia, was a total scam. It starts with attractive photos on both Expedia and Hotels.com, but quickly gets sketchy with cryptic emails and texts regarding the reservation, payment and property details. Unfortunately, our trip was somewhat last minute, so we didn't have many local options for Skye, but this property / representatives were the absolute worst. STAY AWAY!!!"

"Cozy, extremely well designed and efficient, spectacular views in a quiet and private and quaint location. 10 min drive back “The Street” where the sunsets are magical looking across the water to Isle of Skye. Applecross Inn is a great place for late afternoon drinks and dinner. Marion is a great host. "I had an excellent stay at the Sligachan Hotel. The hotel is steps away from breathtaking scenery for walking or hiking and a quick bus/car ride to Portree for shopping and dinner. Martin, the manager, was so helpful and kind. He drove my friend and I from Portree to our train because the bus schedule that day was not aligning well with our train schedule and morning activities. He also gave us great tips on the best things to do on the Isle of Skye and made sure that all of the guests were enjoying their stay. The breakfast was high quality - I loved the smoked salmon and eggs and the fresh fruits and yogurts. The receptionists were always friendly and helpful whenever we had any questions. I would recommend the Sligachan hotel to anyone who wants a comfortable stay right near the Cuillian Mountains and a quick commute to Portree."
