Growing up as a devoted history lover, I have always daydreamed about living in a castle. I used to recreate that magical word in my phantasy, populated with vassals and fortune tellers, with dames and cavaliers.

This summer, my stay at the beautiful Tuscan resort CastelloBanfi Il Borgo in Montalcino, Italy gave me the chance to turn this dream into reality.

This beautiful property is set in an ancient stone hamlet that was built in the 1700 sunder the protective walls of the 13th Century Castle “Castelloalle Mura”. What was once used as a dwelling for farmers who toiled with their noble landowners has today been restyled into the luxurious rooms and suites of this jewel of Tuscan hospitality.

While the architectural style remained unchanged and very authentic, the interior was renovated with modern comforts, premium fabrics and exclusive accessories.

We were so lucky to stay in one of their exclusive 14 rooms, surrounded by history, vineyards and olive groves.

CastelloBanfiilBorgo is truly a place of peace and serenity.Enjoying breakfast or “aperitivo” at sunset from the infinity pool that over looks immense stretches of Brunello vines is simply good for the soul.

"The tower was a perfect place for our trip to Tuscany! It had a ton of space with a full kitchen and living room. The town it is located in is fantastic. There is a small grocery store, a pizza place, and a fantastic restaurant where two people can get a delicious meal and drinks for about €30 all within walking distance. You can easily drive from the tower to Siena, Florence, Montalcino, Montepulciano, and I'm sure many other places that we didn't have time to get to. Sauro was a great host and...

"Die Anreise war problemlos, da der Besitzer Massimo schon vorab den Standort geschickt hat, außerdem gibt er während des Aufenthalts immer wieder Tipps für Ausflüge. Bei der Ankunft wurden wir herzlich empfangen und uns alles wissenswerte über das Haus erklärt. Das Haus und der Garten ist super, wir und unser Hund haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt. "The property is gorgeous, well kept, and is very clean. The rooms are very large. Staff is great and speaks fluent English, they really want you to have the best time. The one hour free at the spa is amazing and so relaxing. Pool is a little cold but perfect on a hot Tuscan day. We did not eat at the restaurant but the breakfast was nice. The hotel is very close to everything. Really should be a 4 or 5 star hotel. "

"We loved our stay! Beautiful property, excellent staff in all roles. Very friendly and helpful. We also did the aperitif and olive oil tours at the winery. Breakfast and dinner were delicious! And again very friendly staff. The only thing we missed was an air conditioner in our room. June was already very hot. Other than that it was amazing! We would return to this property in the future."

The golf was excellent, the food was consistently good, and the service was friendly and professional. It is remote, which adds to the charm, but just a heads-up: if you need anything like Advil or small essentials, the nearest town is about 20 minutes away on a dirt road. Overall, everything was well done. We’d absolutely come back."
