CastelloBanfi Il Borgo, Luxury Retreat in Montalcino Italy
Growing up as a devoted history lover, I have always daydreamed about living in a castle. I used to recreate that magical word in my phantasy, populated with vassals and fortune tellers, with dames and cavaliers.

This summer, my stay at the beautiful Tuscan resort CastelloBanfi Il Borgo in Montalcino, Italy gave me the chance to turn this dream into reality.

This beautiful property is set in an ancient stone hamlet that was built in the 1700 sunder the protective walls of the 13th Century Castle “Castelloalle Mura”. What was once used as a dwelling for farmers who toiled with their noble landowners has today been restyled into the luxurious rooms and suites of this jewel of Tuscan hospitality.

While the architectural style remained unchanged and very authentic, the interior was renovated with modern comforts, premium fabrics and exclusive accessories.

We were so lucky to stay in one of their exclusive 14 rooms, surrounded by history, vineyards and olive groves.

CastelloBanfiilBorgo is truly a place of peace and serenity.Enjoying breakfast or “aperitivo” at sunset from the infinity pool that over looks immense stretches of Brunello vines is simply good for the soul.

"A second visit to Podere Brizio after 7 years! The surroundings are stunning and was very well looked after even though I had a nasty cold. The rooms are staring to show some wear and tear, but can’t fault the service and beauty of the place!"

"We had a great time for two nights at this beautiful property with really friendly staff. The spacious apartment and the nature around the property as well as the proximity to Montalcino were perfect for a relaxing time. The little winery was excellent and the wine tasted really good. We would definitely recommend this accommodation!"

"Can't recommend A440 enough, one of our favorite places we have ever stayed. The hotel and grounds were beautiful and the close proximity to Pienza can't be beat!"

"Our stay was outstanding. We got to stay in an 8th century abbey! We had so much space and a full kitchen. Beautiful property. Our hosts were outstanding, very attentive, responsive, excellent breakfast prepared by the family, good wine made on-site, option for traditional dinner (we didn’t have it but it was nice to have the option), just wonderful overall! Laura and her daughters and husband do an amazing job. "

"We recently stayed here and absolutely fell in love. The staff are all very friendly and the room was beautiful, with antique Tuscan furniture pieces to enhance the overall feel. The views and grounds are absolutely stunning with plenty of pathways to explore. "The property is gorgeous, well kept, and is very clean. The rooms are very large. Staff is great and speaks fluent English, they really want you to have the best time. The one hour free at the spa is amazing and so relaxing. Pool is a little cold but perfect on a hot Tuscan day. We did not eat at the restaurant but the breakfast was nice. The hotel is very close to everything. Really should be a 4 or 5 star hotel. "

"Peaceful, Relaxing Stay in Tuscany We had a great experience here. The setting is quiet and secluded—felt like a true escape from everyday life. The golf was excellent, the food was consistently good, and the service was friendly and professional. It is remote, which adds to the charm, but just a heads-up: if you need anything like Advil or small essentials, the nearest town is about 20 minutes away on a dirt road. Overall, everything was well done. We’d absolutely come back."
