Alfonso (owner) helpful - English advice was provided through translation app. Rate paid apparently was for room only so breakfast not available (not seen anyway.) Location is 5 mins walk from Pompeii ruins entrance. Basic but clean bedroom though bathroom needs updating - no toilet seat for example! Is within residential flats so walls seem quite thin.

Good location for a visit to Pompeii. A call to the owner on our arrival was answered straight away and he arrived 5 minutes later to check us in. Room was clean and spacious. Great balcony with a view of Vesuvius. Although some info on the listing indicates breakfast may be available this was not mentioned on check in and we don't know where this would be due to the lay out of the rooms. As we checked out we noticed another room at the top of the stairs that looked like it might be a dining room. This room was closed every other time we went past. There were no kettle or tea/ coffee facilities in the room. A great base for our stay especially during a heat wave, the room has sun shutters and excellent air conditioning for those afternoon siesta's

Perfect place to stay for a great price as it was so close to everything in Pompeii - the ruins, the centre for food and shopping and tour operators/meeting points etc. Property felt clean and safe, and had the all important air conditioning! Balconies offered views of Vesuvius.

Our train was delayed in getting here, and we were not able to make it on time for check in. As a result, they did not let us in for the night, so we had to find a new place to stay, and we never got any money back.

Nice people and good value
Friendly, comfortable and close to Pompeii. The added bonus was that breakfast was included and was good. It was a little cramped with everyone at breakfast at once, but the value was great and everyone made it work, so I would recommend as a good place to stay.

This is my second time at Amphitheatrum Gate. I keep coming here because I get all I expect from an accommodation and it is not expensive. This time I had a room with a balcony from which I could see Mount Vesuvius. The room is spacious and clean - the same I can say about the bathroom and the shower pressure is excellent (I mention this because many British hotels struggle with sufficient water pressure in showers). I had a little fridge which was convenient. The property is very close to one of the gates to the Pompeii excavation site (5 minutes walk) and in walkable distance to restaurants (5 minutes), the public bus to Vesuvius (5 min), the town centre (10-15 minutes) and the train station (15 min) that links you with Naples and other towns on the Circumvesuvianum-service. Send a message over the Expedia-link to arrange the time for the check-in so you will meet the owner - he is punctual. --- As the last time three years ago I was very happy and I will definitely be back next time I visit Pompeii.

Great venue to explore Pompeii
Spent a week here as we were fully exploring the ruins of all the nearby sites. Very close to Pompeii, the square and an excellent choice of restaurants and cafes. Staff as helpful as they could be (our Italian is not good!). Room cleaned regularly with clean sheets and towels. Little balcony with a view of Vesuvius. Large room and large completely separate bathroom down our private hall so it all felt spacious. For the price we paid - excellent value. There are two flights of stairs and no kettle is provided (we bought one for just 15 euros so we could satisfy my husband's need for lots of English tea). Otherwise, highly recommended.

Great location for Pompeii ruins...shame no coffee/tea making facilities. Got charged €5 for 2 cofffees the afternoon we arrived when we were just wanting to relax after travelling for hours. Shower hopeless...the shower head needs to be thoroughly cleaned so more than 4 holes are working...also a new toilet seat...oval seats don’t work on square toilet seats.

Great location for sight seeing but very basic
Would go Pompei again but maybe stay someone with more facilities it was ok for a long weekend but not if you was staying longer, only saw the hotel staff once during my stay. Hotel was at the top of an apartment block

Pleasant stay
Easy to find the place as there is a big sign outside. If door is locked, need to press the doorbell and someone will open the door. Take a short flight of stairs to go up. Was given keys for the main gate, main door and my room. Very clean room with balcony. Towels are provided and there is aircon in the room. No toothbrushes provided but I always travel with my own. There is no safe in the room but that's not an issue for me. No complimentary water bottles and no mini fridge in the room. There is a supermarket about 8 mins away. Shower gel is provided in the bathroom. Hair dryer is available. No iron in the room. There is a laundromat about 8mins walk away and i went there to wash and dry my clothes. Overall, this is one of the nicest place that I've stayed in during my trip to Italy this time. Will definitely stay again.

The hotel was very nice, the staff was very helpful when I arrived. The location of the hotel is very convenient to the ruins of pompeii. The ruins are only a couple minutes walk from the hotel and the hotel is just off the main street with many stores and restaurants. There is also a Carrefour nearby if you are tired of hotel food and also 3 train stations from traveling to the airport or other areas around Pompeii and Naples. I would definitely stay there again.

여행중 편안한 휴식을 취할 수 있었던 곳 입니다. 화장실 청결도 상당히 좋았던 곳 입니다. 폼페이 원형극장 쪽 입구와 가까운 위치이며, 가족 모두 만족하며 휴식을 취할 수 있었습니다. 아담하고, 주변도 조용하고, 큰길에서 살짝 돌아 있어서 저녁에 귀가시 편안하게 귀가 하실 수 있습니다. 폼페이에 다시 온다면 이곳에 다시 숙박을 할 예정입니다.

Комната очень украшает камин. Очень удобно то, что в комнате раковина и чайник. Завтрак не брали. Рядом с отелем вход в археологический парк и остановка автобуса на Везувий. Не понравилась полупрозрачная перегородка между комнатой и санузлом. Рекомендую иметь на руках подтверждение о бронировании, т.к. у нас хотели взять оплату за третьего человека (ребенка), утверждая, что оплачен двухместный номер. Хозяина убедила распечатка и письмо из электронной почты о том, что забронирован и оплачен трехместный номер. При выселении пытались взять городской налог за проживание 13-летнего ребенка, хотя за детей до 16 лет налог не платят.
