"We really enjoyed our stay. We were walking the SWCP and were glad to stop earlier on this leg. (Just dont take the road to the lighthouse and then climb the scree over the hill: steep and dangerous). The room was excellent. Comfortable. Delicious dinner down stairs, and lucky for us on our night, a live singer providing a musical background atmosphere. She was lovely, and just the thing to elevate the evening to next level."

"The hotel is a beautiful old country style hotel with all the quirks you’d expect to find in such a historic building. Stayed for 1 night as a party of 2 couples pre-flight and would stay there again. Convenient location for our purpose. There were a few issues experienced during our stay which were mainly due to the restaurant. We’d pre booked a 7.30pm table in advance of our stay. Various food offerings on the menu were not available (we were advised - changeover of menu meant they’d underestimated ingredients). Starters arrived in good time however it was quite a wait for the mains to be served. We were not offered any deserts and when we asked for coffee we were advised that the coffee machine had been switched off (this was only 9.30pm on a Friday night). There didn’t seem to be a visible ‘manager’ overseeing the restaurant or anyone that you could pick out as being a manager/person of responsibility. Lady at reception on check-out took our keys, advised all paid and didn’t even ask us if we’d enjoyed our stay! Just one breakfast tea teabag in the room for 2 people!"

"Overall, a lovely room with sea view, given that it was not expensive. The room was spacious with a high ceiling and a good shower, though this wasn't thermostatically controlled. There was a good tea/coffee selection. Everything worked in the bathroom. Staff were friendly and we were lucky to get into the hotel parking. A workman had left a drill bit on the bathroom basin and the bedside lights were not plugged in. There was no wardrobe, only 4 hangers on a rail. The bed frame was creaky and the mattress needed replacement, though for a one night stay we didn't mind. There was limited control over the heating in the room, which didn't come on well even when we turned it up. The included breakfast was good though there was no choice offered over what exactly you got in your full english breakfast."

"If you’re thinking about staying at Owlscombe, stop thinking and just book it - you won’t regret it! We were 3 generations (10 people), including a baby, a toddler, 2 teenagers, 2 60 year olds, and a dog, and the house provided everything we needed. It was spotless, well equipped, and finished to a very high standard with quality appliances. Also the location suited us well, a 10-minute walk to the delightful Porlock Weir, and 10 minute drive to the village of Porlock. Communication with Stuart before and during our stay was friendly and prompt. Thank you Stuart, we had a great time!"
