"When I arrived at this property the owner finally answered the door, she said she had no knowledge of my booking. Finally I had to email her a copy of my confirmation. This wasn't made any easier by her statement that "she spoke no English" - the website clearly states multilingual staff. (In fact it later became clear she did speak English).
The 'living-room' is actually set out as a shop and did not feel welcoming - I was not invited to use it anyway.
The only restaurant in Salives was unable...

"Accueil froid, tout juste poli par la patronne.
A l'inverse, les autres membres du personnel sont agréables et sympathiques.
Hôtel ne méritant pas les 3 étoiles : locaux et chambre vieillots, limite glauques.
Pas d'ascenseur, escaliers raides, pas de réfrigérateur, pas de climatisation...
Il y a des travaux à faire...!
Petit déjeuner indigent.
Par contre bonne literie, douche agréable et pratique.

"The Auberge de l’Abbatiale is a wonderful small family run hotel with excellent accommodation in a historic and very interesting building. Very friendly owner and staff. Dinner in the restaurant was delicious. Thoroughly recommended as a stop off point while travelling through France as it is located in a picturesque historic village fairly close to an exit on the A31 (13 km away). Half way between Calais and the south of France."
