Spruce Lodge
8/10 Good
"Overall, we were disappointed in our accomodations. We stayed 4 nights. The room was not very clean when we arrived. Specifically, the floors needed to be swept and there was no broom in the room. The shower was not as clean as I would expect a lodge to keep it. The corners looked like moldy ick, and there was hair and grime in the corners and along the edges. The towels smelled mildewy. The coffee house on the property was only open on one day while we were there....or we just missed them?? They didn't seem to have normal operating hours. We went elsewhere several times since they were closed. The TV is an AppleTV. We had issues with the remote. The room was large and if you weren't literally standing right in front of the TV holding the sensor in one hand and the remote in the other, you couldn't change the channel. Someone came and they got it to work, but it never really got any better. And it was apparent that they didn't really know how it was supposed to work. Also, this room was literally the only place that we felt 'stuffy' / 'sinusy' the whole time we were in Alaska. What was good: The lodge is newer and has nice finishings. Radiant floor heating!! I liked the table and kitchenette amenities. It was in a very convenient location, although the exterior wasn't well represented in the photos when we were choosing our stay. It's a motel. I think there were some other buildings on premise that we didn't see though. Proximity to Exit Glacier was good."
Hotel Seward
8/10 Good
"Seward doesn't have much to offer on the hotel front, and we were looking for something historic or with a little charm. The Seward Hotel is clearly the best offering in that regard. It has the best location if you're looking to do anything in Seward beyond catching a harbor cruise. The hotel itself does have some charm (the taxidermy display is a bit over the top, but it's Alaska, after all), and our room was large and comfortable. For the price, we would have liked a bit more service for our room -- we were there three nights and the only time a hotel staff member came in our room was at our request to replace the battery in the beeping smoke alarm. Like many other hotels, the Seward seems to have used the Covid epidemic as an excuse to quit providing room cleaning, though we don't remember being told there wouldn't be any. At the very least, trash service would have been nice."

"Beautiful property in an absolutely gorgeous setting! The Cabin was clean, comfortable, peaceful, and had everything we needed for our stay. The host was very welcoming, friendly, and helpful, which made us feel right at home.Moose Pass is such a beautiful area, and this cabin was a perfect place to relax and enjoy the Alaskan scenery. We only stayed for one night, but we really wished we could have stayed longer. It was a wonderful stop during our Alaska trip, and we would absolutely stay here again.Highly recommended to anyone looking for a peaceful, comfortable, and beautiful place to stay in Moose Pass!"
