"The Barn is a great place for a family gathering. We had 6 adults and 5 children in the house - and it didn't feel at all crowded. We found lots to see and do in the surrounding area and, when it did rain, there were games and pastimes in the house to keep us occupied. The kitchen was well equipped and the accommodation well organised. Just one small point; the TVs are advertised as smart TVs which normally means they are connected to the internet and have access to iPlayer, Netflix and so on....

"Really enjoyed our time at the Little Cow House. Starting with the very warm welcome from our lovely hosts and delicious welcoming homemade cake. The house is very nicely furnished, immaculately clean and very well equipped, and is warm and cosy; you can hear the river rushing in the valley below and the rooms have lovely views of trees and fields. Would like to come back and visit again in the summer to really make the mot of the great walks and sights in the area."

"Overall not bad, but things let it down. Phone signal is awful, and there if no Wi-Fi as described. Great area with lovely views. Read reviews from earlier this year about the cleanliness, and hoped that as many months had passed this would have changed, but sadly not. The whole place needs a deep clean. Dust, spider webs, dead insects, clothing tags found all over the house. Vinyl floors all slippy and dangerous. Reported an issue with downstairs toilet light that still wasn’t resolved and...

"The room was very tired but clean. The towel had a stain to it though. The curtains didn’t stretch to cover the whole window meaning day light streaming through at 04:30 in the morning."

"Dear Moxy Chester Management, I am writing to formally raise a complaint regarding our recent stay at Moxy Chester, which was unfortunately quite disappointing and uncomfortable. We have stayed at other Moxy hotels on multiple occasions and have always had positive experiences, which makes this stay particularly disappointing. The first issue related to the room temperature on our first night. At approximately 10pm, our room temperature was reading 23 degrees and would not reduce despite us trying every available setting and adjustment. We initially attempted to tolerate the heat and went to sleep hoping the temperature would improve overnight. However, we woke up around 1am due to the excessive heat in the room, which genuinely felt like a sauna. We went downstairs and reported this to reception during the night at 1am, and the receptionist kindly provided us with an alternative room. Unfortunately, the replacement room was also excessively hot at approximately 22.5 degrees. At that stage, we had no realistic option other than to return to our original room and attempt to sleep there. We raised the matter again the following morning, and reception checked other rooms, however the temperatures throughout appeared to remain between 22 and 23 degrees. This was highly uncomfortable and unacceptable, particularly as we were travelling with our dog. The room was far too hot for both guests and pets to remain in comfortably overnight. We were left dehydrated, and with dry ski"

"The swimming pool is out of order at the moment. was not notified of this when booking only a couple of days before I arrived. I was allocated room 56. Make sure you don’t get this room unless there is a heatwave. It was so cold that I had to ask to be moved during the night. The radiator does not appear to work in the room. I stayed for 3 nights, two of which had road closures outside the hotel . On the Sunday the road was closed from 7 am to 1 pm so could not leave unless you walked - and this hotel is some way out of the centre of Chester. Again I was not notified when booking. Staff ( other than the night porter and staff at breakfast) seemed entirely disinterested. No one actually apologised. I was offered another stay in the future, free of charge, but quite frankly I have no intention of ever returning"
