"We enjoyed staying at the Mar Inn. Christine at the front desk showed us the map of the city and guided us to a couple of very good restaurants. Breakfast was very good as well. Close to the cloud forest and a Sloth sanctuary. Tip, park at the parking lot that says Offical Parking & take the shuttle, there is really no parking at the park entrance. "

However, take into consideration that the property is a 3-hour drive from the airport and the hotel does not provide transportation (costs an additional $USD200 for private transportation from the airport). "Mountain Faro is a simple, clean, and well-located property, with a good breakfast included. Yes it is up a hill, but you are in Monte Verde and everything is up or down a hill. The staff, led by Lady, are lovely, welcoming, and so helpful - including recommending restaurants, helping to arrange tours, and arranging transport as needed (for tours, or if you just don't want to walk the hills). "This property is a small family run business . All the people who worked there really tried hard to make everything great. I was not feeling good with a flue stomach and was hoping for fresh food and they always seemed to find it for me. They helped with a booking tour and pointed out some animals. The pool was clean and refreshing. The only thing I could say that the curtains on the big windows where a little bit of a challenge to cover everything or get into the door and the lounge chairs...

"We ended our first trip to Costa Rica, in Uvita, at Nature's Edge. We travelled the Pacific Coast, but it wasn't until we got to Uvita that we experienced the true jungle. Nature's Edge is tucked away about 2 miles up a steep road (you truly do need a 4x4 to access it, but we had a little AWD Suzuki, that we put in manual mode, and that did the trick just fine). Once you turn into the property you pass the first two casita's on your left, and if you're lucky, you booked one of the lower casitas...

"The property is gorgeous! We had the standard deluxe room and it was great. No one above us and only one other room beside us, so quiet and serene. Monkeys ate from the mango tree every day on our balcony. Most importantly the bed is very comfortable and it has great pillows! Very private rooms situated throughout the property. The free breakfast had great choices and great food throughout the day. The only recommendation I have for the hotel is to replace the plastic glasses used in the room with actual glass. We did ask for some & they happily gave them to us. We had a lovely relaxing stay!! "
