"While the room itself provided a comfortable bed, the rest of my stay was marred by poor service and hygiene concerns. Most notably, the bathroom had a persistent smell of sewage which made the environment very unpleasant. The bar area appears to be significantly understaffed and poorly managed. On one evening, I waited 20 minutes for a drink while the lone barmaid was clearly distressed by the volume of orders; despite her requesting help, none was provided. On a separate occasion, the staff behind the bar appeared completely untrained and lacked basic knowledge of service. It was disappointing to see hardworking staff left unsupported and guests left waiting."

"Fantastic location in a beautiful setting. We went for a weekend to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Service wasn’t the best, I had to go find someone to serve us at the bar when we wanted to have a drink before our evening meal. There was a door bell to ring to request service at the bar but after ringing it several times, and waiting for a long time I had to eventually go to the main reception desk to request some service. A member of staff then eventually came to serve us. This member of staff told me they didn’t have what I could clearly see behind the bar, then changed her mind and said they did have it, which we thought was a bit odd. We had an evening meal in the restaurant and the food was absolutely excellent. The waitress that served the food was very good, it was a lovely warm sunny evening so we asked the same waitress after we’d finished eating if it was ok for to finish our drinks outside on the terrace, she said that was absolutely fine. However, the same member of staff that had served us at the bar earlier, then ran after us and shouted that we’d forgotten to pay our bill. This was very embarrassing in front of other guests and clearly not the case as we were staying guests at the hotel and had asked the restaurant waitress beforehand. I’m not sure we’d go back again after this, which is a bit of a shame as it was a beautiful setting and great location. "

"A fabulous property with everything to hand that makes it an even better stay than expected! The area is beautiful and there are so many wonderful places to visit nearby. Will definitely return when we want to revisit the area. "

"Home was beautiful! So pretty and peaceful. The kitchen was fully equiped and the beds were comfy. We especially liked the towels and bed linen which was so nice and luxurious. The host was just marvelous helping us when we left my sons Ipad on the outside table. She contacted the neighbours to bring it in whilst we were out in the end she drove over and brought it inside for us. What a relief! Town is also a beautiful place to stay."

"Property a little tired but very clean and staff are very nice. Rooms functional we were upgraded to a beautiful view, only complaint the hearing was in a timer and the room was very cold. They gave us an electric heater which took the chill off. "

"The Ottery is a beautiful, well equipped property in a lovely village. The hosts were very responsive, helpful and friendly and we would certainly book to stay here again! "

"Lavender Cottage is the perfect home away from home. We had a wonderful weekend there, with trips into Bradford upon Avon a nice 15 minute walk away and into Bath using the very convenient train station in Bradford upon Avon. The house was comfortable, beautifully decorated and so well appointed the kitchen had everything we needed from cooking breakfast feasts to cheese and nibbles, they even had champagne flutes! Only wish we had stayed for longer!"

"Teresa was a great communicative host . Arrival and check in was easy and straightforward. The bedrooms were gorgeous and the beds very comfy . The only downside was having just one loo , especially for the person in the studio room but we managed ! "
