"A fabulous place to stay with unrivaled views over Dungeness but needing a bit of TLC now. It's an imposing-looking piece of architecture with the 4th best viewpoint of the sea, the beach and the land - only the two lighthouses and the power station are taller and none of them offer accommodation. In the Coastguard Lookout the view from the lounge and the balcony outside the upper bedroom are fabulous, day or night, when massive ships lit up in the dark pass along the English Channel.
Some of the fixtures and fittings are getting very worn now - the curtain that sections off the toilet was broken at one end and hanging down, many of the windows are either sealed shut or the handles unworkable and we couldn't find a bottle opener or a can opener anywhere in the kitchen. The iMac is no substitute for a television - it's on a low shelf and there is no remote control and the email we received from Bloom gave the wrong password. There is one very nice, comfy chair in the lounge but the bench with cushions is less than ideal.
So, it's now time for the owner to get in and have some maintenance done, but despite that, we really enjoyed our time at the Coastguard Lookout and I would certainly recommend it to anyone seeking a fabulous, unique place to stay at Dungeness."
