Ravenna is an art city of extraordinary importance, famous throughout the world for its Byzantine mosaics and early Christian monuments, many of which are UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Must-see attractions include the Basilica of San Vitale and the Mausoleum of Galla Placidia, famous for their perfectly preserved mosaics, the Neonian Baptistery, the Arian Baptistery, and the Basilica of Sant’Apollinare Nuovo.
