"Hotel Shanker is a oasis of tranquility in the crazy, exciting city of Kathmandu. Its 15mins walk to the tourist, shopping, social hub of Thamel and walk to Durbar square is possible. The hotel is and old Rana residence and is a very special building. Beautiful reception, staircase and comfortable, spacious rooms. We loved the huge chouce at buffet breakfast and we ate many times at the hotel where prices are reasonable. If you want to be in the middle of the craziness, this isnt the hotel for you. But if you, like us, want a calm, cool place to really relax after a hot, crazy day in the centre, then the pool area and hotel comforts are just the job. I LOVED this hotel and after sightseeing and culture overload, really felt that i was on a pool holiday. Coming back here after our trek was such a treat. "

"Stayed for two nights, quite a new hotel, the room was good and clean and the gym was really well equipped with modern machines. Breakfast was good and dinner was nice although overpriced. We had a super nice waitress called Samana who was very happy and helpful."
