"The pics of the hotel are eye catching, but in reality this is a typical beach hotel within a former boarding house from the 1800s, which is cool if you enjoy historic buildings. The service is nothing to rave about, the linens are not on par with many mid-range chain hotels, and the rooms show plenty of wear and tear. However; if you're just looking for a home base while you explore Monterey and Carmel, this would suffice. Go elsewhere if you want a little indulgence and guest focussed service."

"Our 5-day stay at the Kimpton Mirador was...fine. The biggest upside was that it allows for dogs of any size, so we weren't restricted by our 70lb dog. Overall, the building is very nice - well kept, lovely staff, nice room, etc. It's in a great location - close to the water as well as to the main street, and a 20ish minute walk from downtown Monterey.
Where it lacked was the finer details.
You're supposed to get champagne upon arrival, which the people in front of me were offered upon...

"I absolutely love this little inn. It was so quiet and relaxing. The view is stunning, the staff is friendly, and the rooms were well kept. The beds could be a little more comfortable, but they were decent enough that I could sleep through the night. The little dining room for breakfast had the best view of the ocean. In the evening, I made some tea and just sat and watched the view for a little while. The breakfast was so good! It was quite relaxing. I must say that Ivy was absolutely so...

"The check in staff person was friendly and efficient. The room is basic with older model furniture (dark wood 80's style) but not worn out looking. "Well, we were told the room we booked was out of order when we arrived. The hotel staff sent us to a carppy motel, literally the windows are rotten, 15 minutes away. It is unbearable so we cancelled the booking and requested refund."

"There is no air conditioning in the rooms. Even though we knew it, we did know it would get so stuffy in the middle of the night. So we did not get a good night's sleep. After we open the fan and the patio door for the 2nd night, it was much better.
