    Hedgehogs View – Luxury Underground Escape in the Heart of Mid Wales

    If you are looking for a luxury yet one of a kind stay than Hedgehogs View is the place for you, nestled in the heart of rural Mid Wales with idyllic panoramic views to match- a few days away here really is a little piece of heaven.

    Located near the bustling market town of Rhayader & a stones throw away from the ever popular Elan Valley, this Underground House is situated on a site of further luxury stays including Glamping Pods & Shepherds Huts yet still remains private for that relaxing getaway you have been promising yourself. Sleeping up to six guests over three ground floor bedrooms, Hedgehogs View can suitably accommodate a romantic getaway for two or equally welcome a family holiday or get together with friends.

    Follow the charming path to the property entrance and greet yourself inside to the open plan area which really maximises the space on offer and ensures you don't miss out on a thing when holidaying with friends and family. The living area boasts a plush burnt orange sofa and from here you can either chill out with your feet up and catch up on your favourite series on the smart television or admire the one of kind emerald green kitchen. The kitchen area comes fully equipped with oven, hob and fridge with ice compartment, and microwave. Whether you have cooked up a storm or ordered in a takeaway there is space for six people around the dining table with the most comfy of dining chairs so that all guests can dine & raise a glass together.

    With two plush king size rooms, the spacious master bedroom accommodates a unique (& Instagram worthy) free standing bathtub run over looking the view of the green fields and hills rolling into the the distance. On the warmer days open up the French doors to allow that fresh air to fill the room while you relax with that favourite glass of bubbly in hand. The second king room has French doors leading out onto the paved area outside & the additional bedroom is a bunk room hosting two single beds. The family bathroom comes complete with free standing sink basin with illuminated mirror, large shower & flushing WC.

    If all this sounds fabulous, wait until you hear about the outside.. Hedgehogs View has its very own private hot tub on the spacious paved area, so you can sit back and relax in the bubbles an admire the stunning view of the valley below. If you enjoy alfresco dining, there is an outdoor seating area with fire pit, perfect for toasting marshmallows under the glorious evening sky.

    This property is truly is a 'hidden' gem. Quirky, cosy and created just for you with all the unique features it has to offer.

Outstanding, relaxing holiday

Turning into the site and immediately the amazing view greets you. It is absolutely fabulous place for a relaxing holiday. Our hobbit house was one of the 6-person pods, even though there was only two of us plus our dog we wanted a bigger living space for our 5-day trip. The condition of the house was lovely, home from home and very clean. Due to the heat wave (we have 35 degrees!!!) we did not venture out to see the sites, except for very early dogs walks either around the site or down by the river in Rhayader (which has a very convenient Coop for any bits you need) but as the views were amazing it was lovely to sit on the settee with the door open looking out at the views. We had a totally relaxing break and will definitely be back.

We had a lovely stay here and it was a very nice and different place to stay

Highly recommend this place for a different kind of stay. The views were absolutely stunning although we went in January the place was warm dry clean tidy and the customer services were outstanding.

Weekend Break

Location and accommodation were fantastic. Hot tub under the stars in the snow was the icing on the cake for a birthday weekend. Just needed a few more kitchen utensils and glassware, my son wanted a pint glass to drink his Guinness

Great accommodation and great view.

A wonderful way to experience the scenery. You are really in amongst it. Great to wake up and see the hills and the Kites circling in the sky. On our second day we had goats eating the grass outside our window which was a lovely surprise. Great accommodation and wonderfully quirky. The owner was very helpful too. Would highly recommend.

Nice but could be better.

Water was only warm not hot so beautiful bath tub couldn't be used. Wifi wasnt working the first day and a half The qr code to scan for info didnt work and came up with an error. Hot tub chemicals way to strong and ruined partners bikini. Location was amazing and property was very clean.

Beautiful place

The accommodation is beautiful and quirky, lovely views from the round windows, the only thing that let it down for us was the bed, it was awful, so uncomfortable it needs a deeper mattress so you aren't bruising all the back of your legs on the wooden frame around it trying to get on and off and the wood underneath makes it feel like you are sleeping on concrete! The place is very very warm so if you are a cold person you will love it, but they do provide fans, nice to sit in the hot tub looking at the stars, and it is nice and private well thought out and not too close to the neighbours

Review

Hesgehog House is set in a beautiful location with truly splendid views, making it a peaceful and relaxing getaway. The site itself has no amenities, but having your own private hot tub was a real highlight and added to the experience. Unfortunately, cleanliness was an issue on arrival: we found cobwebs stretching from the ceiling to the top bunk in the smallest bedroom, and single-use plastic drink wrappers pushed down between the mattress and bed frame in the second double room. The closest town, Rhayader, is nearby and offers plenty of friendly pubs for food and drinks. The local community is welcoming, and there are lots of nature walks in the area, which was great for the dogs.

Beautiful setting, could do with a bit of TLC

We stayed in ‘Hedgehogs View’ for two nights, the location and view were second to none. The privacy of this specific accommodation was perfect as it’s at the top/back of the other ‘hobbit holes’ , so when using the hot tubs and walking around you’re not visible to anybody else. Our initial perspective was that the accommodation was beautiful , great facilities and well styled . Once we’d settled we noticed a lot of black mould spots in the main bedroom , above the bed area and dotted over the ceiling. The bed was extremely uncomfortable , with a very thin matress, the base of the bed being ply wood rather than slats/sprung slats which only accentuated the lack of thickness of the matress. A few little things that don’t work took the edge off the stay also, the bin lid didn’t work, and the mirrors that were supposed to light up in the bedroom/ bathroom didn’t. They stay gave us what we wanted/needed, being a space to relax with stunning views. But for the money I’m not sure I’d return as our sleep was very poor and the mould is something I feel should be addressed ASAP. As it is I’m unsure if I’d recommend based on the above comments.

48hrs at Hedgehog’s View

Such a beautiful place, we only had two nights here but the accommodation was gorgeous and stylish. The views were amazing and being able to enjoy them from the hot tub or the outdoor seating area with a fire made it even better. The hairy cows and evening visit from the goats were the added factor! We needed a break and hedgehog’s view certainly delivered.

Stunning setting.

I booked the hedgehogs view as a suprise to celebrate my husband's 50th. I was quite apprehensive about the size as although we were only a party of 4 and a dog, we do all value our own space. From the moment we pulled on to the drive we were amazed at the little Hobbiton village in mid Wales. There's a good amount of space inside the accommodation; nobody bumped their heads gandalf style. Everywhere was very clean and well kept. The bathroom and kitchen were very clean and had everything we needed. I have given a 4 for comfort as the beds were quite hard (that's only my opinion). I The views are amazing. If you get a clear night sit outside, the night sky is just as good as the day. I was wary when I discovered the goats were free to roam. Our dog was desperate to make friends with them but they weren't so willing but hey kept themselves out the way, just happily grazing. The Highland cows and 3 calves were a happy sight We went exploring the beautiful Elan Valley and its many picturesque dams. We went to the nearby village of Rhayader had dinner at the Crown which was lovely. Everything was beautiful and we will definitely return.

Lovely weekend break

We stayed at Hedgehogs View for a weekend family birthday celebration. The accommodation was warm, comfortable and well equipped, with beautiful views on a clear day. The hot tub was lovely and warm, and was well used despite the chilly weather. We very much enjoyed our visit.

Lovely stay

We really loved our stay and highly recommend it. Views are stunning. The house is stunning. A couple of things to note, the fridge is very small if you’re planning on self catering and there is very little space to put your clothes etc. some additional hooks throughout would be super helpful. We were really gutted that the goats weren’t out during our stay. They were there when we arrived and we didn’t see them again for the remainder and they were one of the biggest draws of booking. Apart from that it really is an amazing place and also highly recommend going on a pony treck with Alice at Lion Royal trekking.

The perfect break

Couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay, truly amazing. Perfect views, comfort and privacy was on point in the Hedgehog view lodge, had everything we needed. I surprised my husband here for his 30th birthday and he loved every second of it, Gemma was amazing and helped get me surprise balloons etc for arrival to make it that bit more special. Definitely will be coming back, contemplating a Christmas here because it’s just perfect.

This is our third year here and as soon as we get there we feel at peace it truly is our happy place. Luckily the weather held out this year and we enjoyed great walks and pony trekking. Hedgehogs view is a great place to stay, comfortable and the hot tub is great. We will definitely be back x

Brilliant!

Really impressed, different, amazing design, ideal location, out in country side but not too far from civilisation, taxi was cheap and reliable. Loved our Xmas tree. Hot tubs immaculate. Mega impressed.
