To be honest, I am one to not complain about hotels. I usually ride out the stay and move on; however, in this case I just had to write this review as awareness to travelers. To be fair, the property was clean...they are always cleaning, and their air conditioning works very well. Those are the only two good comments I have. The food is very bad and overpriced. The menu is very limited and you have to make a reservation for dinner if you wish to dine on-site. They make you go through the hassle of reserving even though 2 to 5 of the 20 tables are occupied during the evening. The staff is very rude, specially if you are a tourist. They will get upset at you and start yelling for any question you ask, almost as if you are supposed to know the answer. Getting beach towels, for example, became a monumental task of 30 minutes because the reception would tell us to go to the bar to get them, and the bar would say go to the reception. They had us going back and forth trying to get towels. All while yelling at us for asking. In the end the hotel manager and staff ended up arguing over who was supposed to handle the issuance of towels. In summary, they do not know what they are doing...do not stay here. Do not give them your money. I will flat out say that this is the worst property where I have stayed.

***STAY AWAY***

We arrived at the OldWell hotel, checked in and after 30 minutes checked out. The grounds and beach are very nice. But the condition of the rooms are atrocious. The hotel rooms seem to be original, no upgrades have been done since the hotel was built. We got in the room and there were flies buzzing around everywhere. Probably because under the doors and windows were gapping wholes. There was no safe in the room, which worried me since the thin wooden doors and windows could easily be broken with minimal effort and I didn't know what to do with our passports. The bed felt like it was 20 years old and super worn. Needless to say, after 30 minutes and an emotional breakdown due to the condition of the room, we found another place and checked out.

Magnificent location on a beautiful beach

We stayed a week very noticeably off season (end September, beginning of October) . The restaurant closed and was turned into a children’s play-area. It was obvious the staff was readying for winter, putting up sunbeds and parasols (with good reason, as there were days when the waves would have carried them off), washing kitchen equipment with a high-pressure washer etc. The staff were at all times pleasant and efficient, especially the cleaning-staff, but we couldn’t avoid the feeling that we had overstayed, and were outnumbered by staff and the family of the owners. A selfish notion perhaps, but then one should be allowed selfish notions when on vacation.

Prepare to snorkel! No complaints at all, could use some better beds but didnt affect our stay at all. Seriously good breakfast buffet!

Familiäres Hotel direkt am Strand.

Der Abflug von Salzburg wurde leider von 16:30 auf 18:40 verschoben, so das wir erst in der Dunkelheit in Lamezia Terme ankamen. Der Mietwagen war schnell ausgefolgt doch in der Nacht in einem fremden Land ein Hotel suchen ist trotz Navi nicht ganz einfach. Beim Hotel( durch die Mithilfe vom Hotelmanager) angekommen wurden wir herzlich und freundlich begrüßt. Am nächsten Tag besichtigten wir gleich das wunderbare Städtchen Tropea und buchten uns einen Ausflug mit dem Schiff zur Insel Panarea und zum Vulkan Stromboli. Dies war sicher einer der Höhepunkte in dieser Woche. Es gibt viel zu besichtigen wie das Städtchen Pizzo oder Capo Vaticano. Ein Mietwagen ist natürlich fast ein Muss, damit man die Umgebung und vor allem die Bergdörfer erkunden kann. Wir waren das erste und wahrscheinlich nicht das letzte mal in dieser traumhaften Gegend. Es war für uns ein wunderschöner Urlaub.

Old Well! Don''t miss it!

We loved Old Well. It was just my 12 year old son and I and we loved the convenience of having our room right on the shore. We could enjoy a lovely breakfast buffet every morning watching the waves crashing in. Wifi worked great, even when we sat down by the water. The rooms were decorated uniquely, but were comfortable and clean. The owner was the best, easy to talk to and very accomodating when we decided we wanted to come back a few days later and just stay at one place the reminder of our time. We spent a total 4 nights there will definately return there.

Unbelievable location... Challenging to find :-)

We drove around for an hour after leaving Tropea. Hard to find but oh so worth it! You must stay here if you love the beach and amazing locations. Breathtaking views... Wonderful staff!!!

structure familiale et acceuillante en bord de plage dans un cadre magnifique la cuisine est delicieuse et copieuse (poissons et fruits de mer) a proximite de tropea la plage est belle , l eau limpide, des transats sont gracieusement mis a disposition.ideal pour passer des vacances reposantes , les chambres sont d' un confort simple ; il n y' a pas d animation le soir ; le restaurant est tres agreable et romantique avec sa jolie vue sur la mer ;nous avons passe un excellent sejour

C'est exactement comme sur les photos ! L'hôtel est au bord de la mer avec accès direct à la plage ! Le petit déjeuner inclus est correct et quel bonheur de le prendre face à la mer ! Le restaurant est bon et les produits y sont frais (ne comprenant pas les menus, la propriétaire m'a montré les produits et j'ai pu voir qu'ils étaient frais)! Les propriétaires sont sympathiques, même si nous ne parlions pas la même langue, ils ont tout fait pour qu'on comprenne ! Très bon séjour, n'hésitez pas !

Excellent location for a beach holiday

Room was small with adequate facilities. However, lack of insect screens was an issue with mosquitoes a threat. Room was a bit like a cave and situated well back from the beach. We didn't like the look of it and found another hotel in the middle of Tropea that proved to be satisfactory and very well located. Unfortunately we had to pay a night's accommodation but we knew that beforehand.
