The Castle House Luxury Bed & Breakfast

"The Castle House is very conveniently located and reasonably priced. Our room was gorgeous, including a wonderful tub for a relaxing bath and a huge, comfortable, fancy bed. Breakfast was delicious and packed lunches were available for us C2C hikers. Our only small gripe was that the hosts were not available in the evening to help us with laundry, but I would still recommend staying here!"
The Holly Hill Inn

"The Holly Inn is conveniently located outside of Richmond town center across the river valley - walking distance if you can handle the hill. The views of Richmond and the surrounding area are amazing. There is plenty of car parking for the accommodation, pub and restaurant on the same site. The room and bathroom was clean, spacious and warm. The bed was huge - two doubles together (maybe?). Sadly a missing air vent cover on the floor to ceiling window meant a cold draught blew through the thick curtains; a face flannel blocked the hole until morning. A generous checkout time of 11AM was a welcome buffer - though we vacated long before that; the check-in time (I forget what) was similarily convenient. The mini-fridge in the room was a nice touch with two bottles of water in it; it could have been repurposed for milk or medication. The attached pub/bar was friendly and welcoming for local humans and dogs as well as guests. The continental breakfast was disappointing: little food, little choice and poor service of hot drinks due the focus being on cooked breakfasts (extra supplement, not really worth it): sadly no MacDonalds or IKEA in easy reach and little parking close to the Whetherspoons across town. Next time we will bring our own."

"15yrs since our last visit and the passage of time hasn’t been kind to the establishment . From the lack of tlc in the old garden to the weeds on the oath and the unkempt front garden, first impressions were not good. The hotel or now restaurant with rooms is a tired old lady. Door are bashed and chipped, skirting’s are scratched and flaky. Carpets are tired and worn. Clean and tidy overall and with lovely friendly staff . Excellent food and service at meal times. But it is just tired, lacking an onsite manager."

"Only a one night stay. Efficient and friendly staff. Good food. Parking no problem. Room was ok, but the bed was 'springy'. It needed a new mattress. But I would stay there again, for sure."
