"Wonderful stay. The setting is very peaceful and calm, after a 2 night stay we felt utterly replenished. The beds and pillows were large and comfortable. Robes and slippers were provided. The staff were friendly, approachable and professional. The spa is truly a gem here. Clean , was never crowded and relaxing. We never had any treatments but didn't feel like we missed out on anything. Loved sitting outside the spa and eating after a relaxing spa session. Special mention to Victoria at the spa restaurant. Such a delightful person and gave us great recommendations. We will be returning without a doubt."

"Stayed here twice, Mark (Host) is great, really friendly and welcoming. He treats you like an old friend and on hand for anything you need. The accommodation is home from home, so comfortable, relaxing and lots of thought gone into making your stay a pleasant experience. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place to anyone looking for a quiet, relaxing stay."

"Large, comfortable room with a modern en-suite. Very amenable and accommodating hosts with nice ideas such as putting on complimentary food in the bar during England World Cup games. We had a “simple” pie & chips from the menu and it was terrific with, as promised, real gravy. We didn’t have full English breakfast but the toast on the Continental option from a local artisan baker was fab. Lots of little touches that make the Royal Oak a little different from the ordinary."

"This hotel is in a very old Tudor style building with heaps of charm and quirkiness. This is a popular and busy pub/restaurant/hotel. Our room was on the top floor with access by stairs with high risers. The double bedroom was small with only one bedside table and no cupboards and only one stool so it is best suited to a one night stay. The room was clean and tidy with again the charm of an uneven floor which is not a problem just be aware. As the room is close to the roof it can get very warm as there is no through breeze and there is no air con or fans. The staff are friendly and efficient. The cooked breakfast was good although no fresh fruit and the serving staff looked very tired."
