The River House is an adorable place to stay right on the Roanoke River and Roanoke Green Way. Rent bikes 500 feet from the house, walk to downtown, float the river with tubes, kayaks, paddle boards, or canoe rentals available! So much to do in Roanoke and you are in the heart of it!

A 100 foot high star atop a mountain and visible from miles around welcomes you to the "Star City of the South," a great beginning for your weekend getaway to this city rich in culture, history, fun, and entertainment. Close to the star is the Mill Mountain Zoo, where you'll see the endangered Snow Leopard, Amur Tiger and Red Wolf, along with 40-plus other animal species. The Center in the Square is the city's cultural hub, where you can catch a Broadway-quality show at the Mill Mountain Theater or hear the celebrated Roanoke Symphony. Museums are everywhere, and whether your interest lies in art, history, science or transportation, you'll find a museum to match it.

Virginia’s Blue Ridge is home to an impressive collection of locally-produced craft beer, wine, and spirits. Our setting in the Blue Ridge Mountains makes it an ideal location for growing grapes, as well as producing outstanding craft beer with the rich water sources in streams and rivers that flow through the mountains.

There's something to keep you occupied and entertained every minute in this environmentally-conscious, friendly and very welcoming Virginia city.

My sisters and I had a great stay here. There were four of us and it was very comfortable and clean. We loved the back deck and view of the greenway and a Roanoke River. We walked the greenway every morning and got to see the murals painted on the bridge underpasses. The neighborhood was safe and quiet and close to everything we did. Lots of food and breweries. The mill mountain star is close-and was a fun trek one night after dinner! Would definitely stay here again. Well stocked with comfortable beds.

We absolutely loved this VRBO! There's so much to do within walking distance in every direction. The house is also very cozy and quiet. We really enjoyed our time there and highly recommend this one :-)

This place was perfect. It had plenty of space, was clean, and close to everything. Initially, it was a little chilly downstairs, but once we turned the heat up a couple degrees, it was perfect. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone needed a spot to rent in Roanoke.

Wonderful stay. We had a graduation at VT, and while Roanoke is 45 min drive, quite a lot of people stay there because it is just easier and less crowded. Property was very clean, beds and linens super comfortable. Didn't get to use outside space because we were so busy. Lovely stay.

We had a good trip. We couldn’t get the toaster to work and the kitchen seemed a little light on moving bowls And Saran Wrap. The downstairs water pressure in the sink is low. Thanks for a great stay!

This is a cozy and lovely property. There were a few maintenance issues one of which made for a restless night as the HVAC was extremely loud every time it cut on or off. Hopefully, will be resolved with a clean filter. But it’s a really beautiful house and the location could not be better.

Not only is the Rivah House cute as a button, it is clean, well furnished, and steps away from the Greenway which winds along the Roanoke River. The river view from the back deck is veiled by a beautiful weeping willow tree. We enjoyed watching the sunset over the lazy flow of the river. Can't wait to visit again!

The River House is a convenient place to stay. It is right on the walking path and next to the river. It was too chilly for us to use the path or the lovely back porch but we have already made plans to come back. There was ample on street parking. One queen bedroom and bath were in the finished basement giving each couple privacy. We enjoyed our stay.

My husband and I enjoyed a long weekend here relaxing and exploring Roanoke. The home was clean, comfortable, and had everything we needed, from dishes to toiletries. The location was particularly excellent - right on the greenway, which we used to bike to coffee and restaurants. Only nitpicky observation was that, although the house got beautiful light, all of the windows only had thin curtains - something to keep in mind for anyone with kids or those who need a darker room to sleep when it’s light out. Overall a great experience and we’ll definitely be back!

We parked our cars Friday night and did not move them until checkout time. We walked everywhere! A rain with lightening had us catch Uber for $9 to get back to the house at 9 p.m. We enjoyed the adventures of the space.

We did not stay in the property. After checking in we discovered a radon mitigation system in the basement. We would not have been concerned if it showed that it was functioning and had been inspected recently. It showed nothing since 2018. Out of an abundance of caution we called the owner and asked for a refund, which he readily agreed to. It is a very cute place and well appointed, so we were very disappointed to make this decision. We are still waiting for refund from VRBO for their fee.

Great location! This house is close to downtown and to all other sections and sites of Roanoke. It is clean and furnished perfectly for a relaxing visit. It has a well appointed kitchen for cooking, take out or just morning coffee. The basement is situated as a private suite for a couple's privacy while upstairs is perfect for 2 other couples or singles. The neighborhood is quiet and everyone slept so well. A walking / running path is just steps away from the backdoor for early morning walks/runs. The owner is accessible and very accommodating. Definitely in the top five VRBOs we have rented.

We utilize VRBO and Airbnb frequently. This was the cleanest house we have ever stayed at. You could smell hints of the bleach and the towels and the sheets which gave me peace of mind that everything was nice and clean and fresh after showering or when getting into the bed. The rooms were well appointed & beautifully decorated. We would recommend this for any family especially younger ones. The stairs to the lower basement finished level are a little steep but I did manage it with a broken foot! So it is doable! Friday nights in the summertime, there is live music from 7 to 10 down at the bridge which is about four houses from this location, they cut off promptly at 10 PM so it’s not a real issue except the music is quite loud. The neighborhood is great and friendly and there is a walking path along the river where people jog and walk.
