El Palacio Rosa: The Resort. 6BR Beachfront & Pool
Resort Takeover is the whole of El Palacio Rosa. It combines the Pink Palace — the four-bedroom, two-level main home with the top-floor primary suite and the best sunset view on the property — with the Bay Suite, the two-bedroom walkout apartment at the waterline below it. Six bedrooms, four full baths, 5,400 square feet, sleeping eighteen. Two separate entrances, two full kitchens, private balconies on both levels of the main house. Air conditioning, fiber WiFi, smart TVs, free parking for the group.
Booking it this way means El Palacio Rosa stops being shared. The infinity pool looking over the Bay of Honduras with views clear to the mainland, the dock, the sandy beach, the kayaks and paddleboards and the skiff belong to one group for the length of the stay. Groups that take it are usually two or three families travelling together, a dive club, a family reunion or a mission team — eighteen beds, one table at dinner, and nobody negotiating over the pool.
The skiff runs the protected inshore passage east through the mangroves toward Jonesville and Oak Ridge after a short orientation, with a contribution for gas and no open-water crossing on the route. Off the dock: the Roly Poly, a WWII naval cargo ship grounded here in 1945 and shallow enough to snorkel. Mangrove tunnels pirates used 400 years ago to slip away from Spanish warships are a short paddle away.
Three reefs in Carib Bight. TableTop runs a hundred yards down the middle of the bay — shallow, easy, a beginner snorkel straight off the dock. Hurricane Ridge off the southeast point snorkels beautifully and dives to a hundred feet, and most days there’s nobody out there. Purple Fancy on the west point — purple sea fans as far as you can see, swaying with the tide, and nobody goes there but us. It’s what guests call their favorite thing they did on the island. It’s also the edge of Wall of the Rose, so snorkelers work the fans while divers drop the wall from the same spot.
La Rosa Tiki Bar, El Palacio Rosa’s own dockside restaurant and bar, is on the property. For a group this size, arranging meals in advance — private breakfasts, group dinners, full meal plans — is the single most useful thing to set up before arrival. La Rosa Dive & Fish is on site: tanks, lockers, rinse, showers, PADI instruction and certification for the whole group, air fills for a small fee, and deep sea fishing charters. Over 30 dive sites within 15 minutes of the dock. Island tours pick up at the property. Restaurant, dive, fishing and tour services are priced separately. Laundry is $4 a load.
Check-in is 10:00 AM and check-out is 3:00 PM. The island standard is 4 PM in and 10 AM out. With a group this size that matters more, not less — eighteen people are not all on the same flight, and nobody should be waiting in a restaurant with their luggage. Going home, the property is yours until 3:00, and later flights can leave bags with Jorge and stay at the pool and the dock. No late-checkout fee.
El Palacio Rosa is about 30 minutes from Roatán International (RTB) on a brand new road, freshly paved the whole way out to Carib Point, away from the cruise terminals and the West Bay strip.
Please note: no other overnight house guests means exactly that. La Rosa remains open to the public during a full takeover — it’s a working restaurant, not a feature that switches off — so expect other diners at the dock, background music most evenings, and a live band or DJ a couple times a month. Two dock slips are also rented, so a visiting boat crew may share the pool and kayaks. Nobody else sleeps in the houses. There are stairs on the property, with steep ramps at most points; with a group this size, message before booking if anyone has mobility needs. Property dogs live on site (Central American alarm system), which is why guest pets can’t be accommodated. Jorge, our on-site manager since 1998, is available 8am–5pm Monday through Saturday and around the clock for emergencies.
