About this property
House in the trees with City View
(This home is HC accessible to enter but is not a HC accessible home. It is HC friendly with spaced furniture and wide doors but that is the extent) Welcome to Haakon House, known to those that have stayed as "The Healing House"! Located in a quiet cul-de-sac near the hustle and bustle of downtown, minutes away from your meetings and/or appointments. Most commutes are between 5-10 minutes including Mayo. Nice neighbors, safe area, nature all around including a little trail through the trees. The wild life is very entertaining and we welcome pictures from your stay for the website! Great for bird watching, watching the deer roam or the chipmunks play. Hot Air Balloons lift off from down the hill quite often in the summer. The paved but steep trail behind the house is great for heading out for a walk or bike ride. Nearby parks, bike trails, gas stations, shops, grocery stores & restaurants.

We had a very comfortable stay for my family and friend. The view of the city was great, and it was easy to access both the city and the Mayo Clinic. I highly recommend staying here.
We were very comfortable in the house, it was even decorated for Christmas. She really payed attention to detail, and made sure all our needs were met. Loved watching the birds and squirrels on their deck. The play area was a huge hit with our grandson! The house had everything we needed. Will stay here again for sure.
Tanuel was an amazing and very accommodating host! Always available for any questions! My daughter had surgery at the Mayo and the house was cozy and very comfortable for six people. Tanuel was always in touch and made sure we were ok doing okay. Loved watching the birds and squirrels!
This house was a wonderful place to stay before, during, and after my husband's surgery. Two of his adult children and my elderly father stayed some of the time at the house besides my husband and I. There is enough room for people to relax with others or by themselves in the public areas. The view from the windows is full of trees and birds. The house was clean, the beds comfortable, and the neighborhood was quiet. We will try to stay here again if we need a longer stay in Rochester again. The owner communicated quickly and the welcoming breakfast items were appreciated.
The house very cute with beautiful surroundings and great view. We loved watching a squirrel play around and eat on the little patio. It’s handicapped accessible with a ramp onto front porch. You can navigate everywhere on the top level in an wheelchair although the bathroom was a little tight. The downstairs had the fun room. The hostess was great and made sure we were stocked with coffee, tea and all kinds of additives, as well as muffins for a couple of breakfasts.
The house worked out great for our stay. My husband had a stem cell transplant at Mayo and we booked the house early enough because we needed the house for 1 month. But because appts and schedules dont always go as planned. We needed to change our dates and we were able to do that with ease. And then we needed the house for even longer. We always kept good communication about us possibly needing it longer. Turns out we ended up booking it for almost 3 months. Tanuel was always ready to work with us and our changing schedule.
The house set up was great. Big and spacious. The kitchen was full of everything you need to cook with. Toys for the kids to play with too. The birds, squirrels and deer were fun to watch. It is located close to everything with just a short drive. Perfect drive to Mayo too. It was home away from home! We would stay again!
Wonderful place to stay in Rochester. Super quiet. Very spacious. The host has set up this home to be extremely user friendly, everything is easy to find and use. We enjoyed the exercise room and the bird viewing deck is so relaxing. Restaurants, groceries and supplies are nearby. Mayo clinic is a short drive away. Would definitely recommend as an excellent place to stay in Rochester.
I need you to place for 2 months while I had transplant surgery. The house was perfect for our stay. Our host kept in contact when needed, was very helpful.
This was a comforting home to stay in for 10 days while getting proton radiation at the Mayo Clinic. Highly recommend for an ideal place, only 10 mins from the Clinic, peaceful, quiet neighborhood, good for walks, in a secluded wooded area. A good find for us!
We enjoyed our stay immensely. The home is a mere 10 minutes from Mayo and is situated in a beautiful wooded neighborhood with lots of birds and small wildlife. Our host was always quick and keen to answer or address any concern. It provided a peaceful respite to help me recover from open heart surgery for which I am thankful.
We loved this property for our visit to Mayo. Easy 10 minute drive and lovely location to relax at when we weren’t at the hospital. Located on a quiet street in the trees with lots of squirrels, birds and bunnies to watch and a lovely bird sanctuary right outside the living room window. Exercise equipment, full kitchen, laundry and AC. Everything you could need!! Thanks again!
Our stay in this house was absolutely wonderful. Very spacious home with great back yard scenery and wildlife. It was cold months so the fireplace was one of my favorite features, along with the many mornings with coffee and watching the beautiful birds. Tanuel is the best host we’ve ever communicated with. She made sure everything was perfect. We felt like we had known her for years after our month long stay. She even had our breakfast (orange juice, muffins and coffee creamer ) all ready when we woke up the first morning which was great cause we arrived so late the night before. Highly recommend staying here.
We were very direct that we needed a handicapped house. It had a ramp; however, the bathroom was definitely not a handicapped bathroom. There was nowhere but the basement to hang out and watch tv with someone in a wheelchair.
We just finished a 12 day stay in Rochester. I was in the hospital for four days with open heart surgery. This home was perfectly located in just a few minutes drive from the mayo clinic properties. While recovering at home. I was able to see indigo, buntings, rose, breasted, grosbeak‘s, red headed, woodpecker‘s, cat birds, and multiple other species, which had a very calming and healing effect. The property manager was magnificent and I cannot recommend this quiet property to highly. Also there was never any issue with traffic.
We enjoyed the home, very roomy. The birds and squirrels loved the feeders. Deer were seen roaming the woods next to the home. Very quiet neighborhood. A nice fenced area for dogs.
The house has lots of room. The area was beautiful due to all the trees changing colors. Enjoyed watching the birds and squirrels on the small balcony. There were nightly visits by many deer. Very pet friendly. The owner made sure everything was as expected. Would recommend the property.

, quiet and comfortable. The master bedroom mattress was very comfortable. The little Bird sanctuary on the top floor balcony was very relaxing to watch. Tanuel was extremely responsive and caring..
My husband and I spent two weeks here with our dog while visiting Mayo. The house is very roomy and comfortable. It was meticulously clean. The owners were friendly and responsive.
We enjoyed the views of the woods and watching the birds and other wildlife come to the upstairs porch. It was very easy to relax and the neighborhood was quiet.
The house has a little wear and tear in places that comes from letting animals travel with their families, but it was nothing to detract from the comfort of our stay. We were so grateful to have found such a wonderful place that allowed us to have our large furbaby with us. We would absolutely stay here again.
Our stay was a busy one and coming back at night to this home was relaxing! My almlat 3 year old grandson loves all the toys and the train set was a big hit! You can view the highway of trees (Tanuel’s description) and watch the squirrels play. This home was welcoming, it’s host always available, the beds comfortable with extra fluffy pillows! I have only positive things to say about our stay.
The house was very comfortable for our stay. The host was very easy to contact and helped us out with any questions we had. Great communication that made our stay perfect. If we return to Rochester in the future, hopefully this house will be available. Thanks so much!!
Larry
The house was clean, large, and nicely supplied with kitchen items, toys, furniture, etc. The owner was responsive and easy to communicate with as well as flexible with our need for a late check-out. As a bonus, the view was lovely with lots of trees, birds, squirrels, etc.
The setting was peaceful and beautiful. We spent hours watching nature. The kitchen was well equipped and the bedding was luxurious. Our host was very accessible and attentive to our needs. The fact that the house was pet friendly was a plus for us (complete with dog biscuits). We would highly recommend the house. The only caveat was it was not easy to find.
We had the best time staying at this property. It’s a quiet neighborhood and backs up to a bike path. Very close to everything. The host was extremely accommodating for our dog and infant. They put out treats, bowls, baby gate, pack n play, and booster seat! The pictures do not reflect how large the property and home were. The back looks over a beautiful wooded area. Plenty of space to be outside. There is also a cute balcony to view local birds. We would stay again. Definitely recommend if you like a homey stay!
This is our second time at this property and it felt like "coming home" We were only there for 5 days for procedure at Mayo, but the comfort and healing we experienced at this property deserves the title of "home sweet home" Thank you again for opening your home to us. We love it there!!!
We felt so welcomed at this home, nestled in the trees with birds and wildlife to watch, it was very therapeutic and nurturing. We stayed at this home due to a outpatient bone marrow transplant that my husband underwent at Mayo for his multiple myeloma. We feel the house had a healing touch during our 5 week stay. We will be staying at this home again as we continue our cancer journey. The home gave us place to recharge and replenish and our Yorkie loved the trail!. I would highly recommend this home to anyone who has to stay in Rochester for medical appointments and longer term stays while they recover. Our host, Tanuel, is top notch and goes out of her way to make your stay as welcoming as possible. I cannot say enough good things about the home or the host! With deep gratitude, Peggy, Carl and Gabriel (our pup)
