Waterfront 4 bed/4 bath Peaceful Oasis in Giants Neck Beach Community

"We have been renting with VRBO for the past ten years. This is without a doubt the nicest property we've stayed in. From the outside looking in, this beautiful three-story beach home is strategically landscaped so that guests don't see their neighbors--other than the beautiful osprey pair nesting on the far side of the salt marsh out back. We were left with multiple sets of binoculars to view them, as well as a grill and sitting area on the side patio for cooking, kayaks to explore the marsh, and more.The inside was immaculate and went on forever. Each of the updated bathrooms was spotless and each of the bedrooms had its own smart TV. Although listed as four bedrooms, there was ample room with couches and cots to easily sleep more. There were also smart TVs in almost every room. The owners were responsive the few times we reached out with questions. In addition, they left us with a useful guide with tips about the area. Centrally located, some "must see" places of note include Gillette Castle, the Essex Steam Train and Riverboat tour up the CT river, Block Island with ferries leaving daily, Mystic, Old Mystic Seaport and aquarium, Saybrook, Old Saybrook, Chester, Clinton, Foxwoods, Mohegan Sun, Deep River, and the list goes on and on. Also, if you like hitting up local antique shoppes, we didn't have to drive too far to find several group collectives with lots of very cool souvenirs to be had.We won't hesitate to come back to Osprey Cove in years to come.."

"The location and property itself were great, but we had a few issues during our stay. The hot water heater was not working when we arrived, so we were unable to take showers for the first two days. To the owner's credit, it was eventually repaired.There was also a persistent musty odor throughout the unit. In addition, the listing advertised air conditioning, but the seasonal AC units had not yet been installed, making it difficult to cool the place down and sleep comfortably.As a final first impression, shortly after we arrived a neighbor stopped by to ask that we notify the owner about garbage left behind by the previous guests that had attracted animals.Despite these issues, the property itself has a lot of potential and could be an excellent rental with a little more attention to maintenance and readiness."

"Our holiday weekend ended up being indoors due to poor weather, but our 20 month old was still able to run around the spacious property and have a great time. The host is tremendously accommodating with ample towels, well equipped kitchen, comfortable mattresses, and a game room. We were able to communicate specific needs for our sudden booking, and again, John responded quickly and graciously met them. Despite 3 hours of sunlight on our 3 day 2 night stay, we had a great time. The lobster stuffy was a particular highlight for our son! We hope to book again for another quick weekend getaway this summer!"

"This home was the perfect place to recharge at the end of the day after exploring the local area. The owners make sure your stay is comfortable and accommodating. The beach is a great add-on. You do truly fall asleep to the sound of waves. Gentle, soothing waves."

"This house was comfortable and could easily accommodate a large party (we were only 4), though the living/dining space is very small in comparison to the very large bedrooms. We did not use the kitchen, but it looked nice. The beds were very comfortable, though others would want to bring additional blankets if renting in the winter as we did. The bathroom sinks and showers did not drain properly. The biggest pro for the house is its proximity to the beach—you’re practically in the waves, which is what we were looking for. The beach and ocean views were at the top of our list when we paid top dollar for this house. Unfortunately, the owners have intentionally left a major eyesore out of the promotional photos. A huge power plant dominates the view day and night. It belches smoke or steam into the air 24 hours a day and is lit up like a Christmas tree, shining into the house all night. This was our first trip to this area, and because it was not in the photos, we had no idea it was there. We would not have paid the price we paid for that view. I can’t imagine that other reviewers haven’t mentioned this, unless they are more familiar with the area and used to the oceanfront industries up and down that coastline. We wish the photos would have been more honest."
