Washington Plaza Hotel

10/10 Excellent

"We had a 2 bed room and it was clean and fresh upon walking in. The towels were bright white and plentiful. Nice soaps for bathroom. The front desk personnel (esp John and Jamal) were very helpful and professional. They took care of everything I needed and did it with a smile. The pool was sparkling clean everyday and had a full time lifeguard and stacks of pool towels. Carlos was a great server for breakfast and pool bar. Paul was so nice in the restaurant dining room. It was easy to see all the employees are well trained and experts in the hospitality industry. I would have appreciated a happy hour drink and food menu. The location was perfect for museums and downtown DC business. Lots of restaurants in walking distance. Nice wine shop a block away. I would stay here again In a heartbeat."

"We loved our stay at the Hive. Safe neighborhood. Great location. 15 minute walk to Lincoln Memorial. All of the front desk staff were excellent to deal with. We would definitely stay there again. And would highly recommend. The staff in their pizza area was very unhelpful. They kept ignoring people and were unfriendly when they finally addressed you. The people in front of us waited a long time to order. Finally just left without ordering, because no one acknowledged they were waiting to order."

"Will definitely return! Check in was quick and easy. We were upgraded which was a great surprise. The room had a full kitchen complete with a gas stove, dishes, pots and pans. The bathroom had a little foyer room as well. The room was very warm when we arrived on one of the hottest days of the year and the AC did not appear to be working to its potential. I called the front desk and it was serviced immediately. The hotel is an older building but excellently maintained and clean with great water pressure which is sometimes an issue in older buildings. The location was excellent for us as we were attending an event at the National Mall. Everything was within walking distance including Whole Foods. The hotel is located within the George Washington University and close to many of the sights and museums. Very pleased with our stay."

"This was previously the Hotel AKA which is now named The Satire which is part of the Marriot chain. There were odd security stationed everywhere including entering the floors of our rooms. We are regular guests at the hotel and have never felt so uncomfortable. We loved the Hotel AKA, but may try other boutique hotels before staying here again. "

"Lovely hotel… staff was available and very helpful. The downside in my mind, when you consider the price you pay for the room, was a very small TV and not a smart TV….no walk-in shower just a bathtub in which the knobs were difficult to use. Being in a boutique hotel and considering the price you pay per night you might think you would get a little more than what the room had to offer."
