"The initial check in experience was good. the receptionist was kind and funny. The room was good, the shower pressure was good in our room despite hearing from friends that their room bathroom shower pressure was not good. The bar experience was not good. The older bartender was evasive and I tried to get his attention and it was like he ignored us. One of my suggestions would be to get rid of the "clothes iron room" and have irons and ironing boards available in the rooms. Lastly, upgrade to bigger flat screen TVs as the 20" tv is too small. :-)"

"It really wouldn’t be fair to rate this hotel by comparing it to a modern Cancun-style resort. Yes, the hotel is dated, and some of the amenities are as well—there is no air conditioning, for example. But I’m not going to base my entire opinion on that. Our room was very nice, we slept well, and overall the hotel was exactly as described. The staff was extremely friendly and welcoming. One recommendation: make sure you have Google Translate updated and ready, as it can definitely come in handy! Breakfast is technically separate from the hotel. My understanding is that although it is on a different part of the property, it is under the same ownership. Getting to it can be a little inconvenient, especially for anyone with a disability or difficulty climbing stairs, so that is something future travelers should be aware of. Overall, we enjoyed our stay, were treated very well, and I would still happily give this hotel five stars."
