Lovely old style hotel in the heart of Roscommon town, the room was grand, had all the usual stuff with a very comfortable bed, great sleep. The staff were very friendly. Had a steak in the bar and was as good as steak gets. Made use of the leisure centre which was adequate. Good breakfast.

Abbey Hotel was magnificent!! The staff were helpful and kind and very attentive. The food and drinks were fabulous and the pool was great! It was a truly beautiful place and the 13th century Abbey ruins in the back was a phenomenal historic site!! So much to do on site, we didn't even wander out much! But when we did, the city center was close and convenient. Right by the train station, too!!

The property was outstanding. Staff was friendly, the breakfast was good, property was immaculate. Parking was plentiful. But in the main building there was no AC and a tiny window to circulate air. That’s just a selfish opinion but that’s the only minimal complaint if you even want to call it a complaint. More like a spoiled American complaining about nothing. I’d DEFINITELY stay here again. Perfect midway point from Dublin to Galway. And if you decide to get a little lost in Roscommon, well worth the wandering.

A magical castle stay with stunning grounds, rich history, and wonderful hospitality! We absolutely loved our stay at the Abbey Hotel! From the moment we arrived, check-in was seamless and the receptionist was delightfully welcoming. Staying here truly feels like staying in a castle. The grounds are meticulously landscaped and beyond stunning, and having the evocative ruins of the original abbey right behind the property adds so much character. The location is peaceful and relaxing while still being convenient to local highlights. We took a quick three-minute drive over to Roscommon Castle before dinner, which was open, easily accessible, and wonderful to explore. For dinner, we headed into town to Regan’s Gastro Pub, which was fantastic. The staff were chatty, warm, and attentive, and the meal was delicious. Our room was very spacious with two queen beds, and we all had a great night's sleep. Breakfast the next morning was top-notch, featuring all the traditional Irish breakfast favorites along with eggs made to order. Eating in the gorgeous dining room overlooking the vibrant flower gardens was a highlight in itself. We will definitely be recommending the Abbey Hotel to all our family and friends, and we can’t wait to return on our next visit to Ireland!
