Higgins Lake - One Of A Kind Lakefront Lodge!

Thank you for looking at our home on Higgins Lake!

This spring-fed lake, with its sandy shores and lake bottom, boasts pristine clear waters, and crystal green depths. Our dock extends 80 feet from the shore. The water is knee deep with white sand bottom for 300 feet, then gradually drops off to deeper water. We have 200 feet of beautiful sandy beach front.

The Big House can sleep up to 12. It has a beautiful knotty pine interior, great room, 2 glassed in porches, and a brand new kitchen. The house was built by a local well known Swedish craftsman. There are many examples of fine carpentry throughout the house. The lake fills the view through the large picture windows which run the length of the house. The deck offers a spectacular view, especially on clear nights when the water sparkles in the myriad colors of the sunset.

While this is our family home, we rent the house for some summer weeks and early fall, and we thank you for looking!

Great location for a mini family reunion. Friendly hosts were always available, although we didn’t need much that wasn’t already provided. The house is fully equipped with just about everything, and has plenty of comfortable gathering areas inside and out. Right on the water with a little sandy beach, and nice, clean and firm gently sloping sand as you enter the lake. It was the perfect set-up for our family get-together.

This house was perfect for 3 separate families and we appreciated the well stocked amenities in the house and 2 refrigerators for our food/drinks. The directions to get to the actual house threw us off since there are several homes sharing a driveway, but once we were in, it was fine. The hosts were very responsive and considerate. The home is a little older, but it’s right on the water with a nice beach for littles- I would definitely stay again.

Charming lakefront home. Beautiful craftsmanship in the house, with a lot of great seating for our large group. No swimmers itch from the 15 people who stayed here for a week. Owners very responsive and helpful!

This has always been a favorite of my family. The property is big enough to fit us all, but cozy enough to enjoy meals, games, and scary movies! The owners have always been very easy to work with. It's a bit expensive, but we're willing to splurge periodically because we love it! Thank you to the Shields family for sharing it.

This is a lovely older home on beautiful Higgins Lake. It was a wonderful place for twelve family members to enjoy a week together. The living areas are large, and the kitchen met our needs for cooking three meals a day. It was wonderful to have two full size refrigerators. The lake is shallow, and we were able to walk out to the swim raft easily. We brought our pontoon boat and a paddleboard for fun on the water.

This really was a home away from home! From the time we got there to the time we departed, everything was just perfect. There were plenty of "goodies" included at the house, and we even got to meet Kip, the property owner, and his family. Very personable! Had a great conversation about the smoker that we brought since he's a collector of sorts. We're looking forward to returning again some day.

We had an absolutely wonderful time this summer at this perfectly located beach house. Beach was beautiful with sandy shallow water that went well past the dock. Lake was perfect for a group of children. The beach was big, and the common space in the house was huge and perfect for a large group. The grill was clean and yard space was a wonderful spot for the many football and soccer games our kids played. Plenty of towels and well-stocked kitchen. We all enjoyed our stay and can’t wait to come back.

We have stayed in so many Vrbo homes over the years, I have to say that I LOVED that there was no instruction book, no list of what we should, could our shouldn’t do, no pre departure chores just absolutely nothing! So refreshing. We had two questions upon arrival (needed the baby gates and high chair) they answered and that was it. Everything else we figured out. This home is very well stocked with cookware, dishes, spices etc. two grills, great back deck that is enormous and the space and layout inside was perfect for our group of 6 adults and a 15 month old baby. Lots of nooks and crannies to sit and read, new solo stove for nightly fires and beautiful views of lake. Because we were there the second week of September it was chilly so didn’t spend much time in water. Higgins is a beautiful clear lake. Owners very responsive when needed!

I'm not sure where to begin, we enjoyed everything about our stay at Higgins Lake Lodge! The shoreline was next level, our kids were able to safely play in the sand and splash in the water. Knee deep, crystal clear, could see perfectly to the bottom, no rocks or weeds. We decided to rent their pontoon boat which was perfect for getting out and exploring and fishing. Kayaks and sand toys were also available and thoroughly enjoyed. The cabin is huge, well furnished and cozy. We had visitors everyday and there was enough space for everybody to roam freely throughout the house/yard/property/shoreline without feeling crowded. The kitchen is well stocked with everything you may need to prepare food for large groups, multiple refrigerators, charcoal or propane grill, extra pots/serving dishes/plates/cups/silver wear/bar glasses/etc. We also really appreciated having access to stacks of beach towels, washer and dryer downstairs, pack n play for our infant, security gate for stairs, XS lifejackets, smokeless fire pit for s'mores on the patio, you name it, they have it!!! One final thing I'll say is that the vibe is right here, the energy in this space is chill, no overbearing property managers pestering us, no manual of dos and don'ts, the hosts are around if you have any questions or need anything. Incredible experience with our family and we would love to visit again. Thank you for sharing this family treasure with us.

The house was definitely a Big House! There was plenty of room for the family to roam. The pictures of the residence are pretty accurate. The stone fireplace was awesome! The rear deck was concrete and a nice place to BBQ and watch the happenings on the lake. Saying the house was air conditioned was misleading; it really consisted of window units in each of the bedrooms. The other rooms had box fans for air circulation. The 2-1/2 bathrooms were very small and confining, each bath only had a standup shower. The house smelled musty at the onset. We had to open as many windows as possible to try and clear this up. It was especially strong coming from the kitchen area. The door to the basement from the kitchen had a square opening that allowed this musty smell to come into the house. I would not recommend this house for anyone that has allergies or breathing issues.

This home had everything we needed! Beds were comfortable and plenty of linens and towels! Kitchen had all modern conveniences including 2 refrigerators/freezers that were a big bonus!! Close to the boat launch, this house was able to accommodate our 25’ tritune and 2 jet skis. Our family played on the water all day, returned each evening to grill (provided by rental) dinner and a fire pit located perfectly on back patio overlooking crystal clear lake, with the peaceful sound of Loons calling. This home is old with an abundance of character, and very well maintained!! Worth every penny!!! Thank you to the family for providing this amazing rental opportunity and all your help!! The Smith’s
