This 21cm Skoda canon of the “Crisbecq Battery” had a range of more than 30 kilometres. On D-day (6 June 1944) the battery was engaged in combat with the Allied naval and landing forces on Utah Beach. During the course of the battle, it sank the USS Corry and damaged several other ships. The Crisbecq Battery site is an open air museum and enables visitors to discover how the defence of the German army along the ‘Atlantic Wall’ was organised. #D_day_Normandy #Perspectives #History

"Arrivé dans l’après midi, nous avons pu accéder au gîte directement grâce aux informations reçues par message.Nous avons découvert un gîte magnifique. Que ce soit au niveau disposition, décoration, équipement, explications, tout était parfait pour notre petit séjour.La place de parking « privée » est un petit plus bien pratique. "

"Very clean with large spaces. We loved pulling in and seeing the farm dog sitting near the farmhouse. The hosts met us for check in with two glass bottles of their freshly pressed apple and pear juices! This spot is charming. We wish we could have stayed longer. Full sized kitchen appliances! One note for Americans who have not been to France before…the WC or room with the toilet upstairs does not have a sink in it. The sink is the next door over with the showers. Fairly common. "We haven't been to Cherbourg for sometime, and we were pleasantly surprised at how much it has changed. I was not keen on Cherbourg in the past, but now it's clean and with great walking paths, liking the pedestrenisation, it's so nice, always lovely flowers and a very nice place for a stay over! We will be back and book again.The area has changed a lot! "

"This is a basic, budget hotel. It does exactly what is expected. The room was a good size. The beds were confortable and the bathroom perfectly functionable. It was a bit further out of town than expected, but walkable from the ferry terminaland bus station. There is a bus that goes straughts past tue door, but we made use of the hire scooters."

"I would definitely stay here again, it was such a great location to catch the ferry from Cherbourg and the staff were very friendly and helpful. We checked in quite late, around 7pm, parking and taking my dog were no problem, it was all so easy and in an incredibly impressive historical building. There is a restaurant in the hotel which we didn’t try and also quite a few other places to eat within the town. It felt very safe and quiet. "
