I’m Cape Verdean and I really wanted to support Cape Verdean businesses during my trip. The property was breathtaking. The room was clean. My only complaint is that the bidet was leaking and the staff wasn’t very helpful or friendly, other than the housekeeping and pool staff. They were rude whenever I spoke to them, and any time I asked a question, it seemed like I was a bother. The women in housekeeping and the gentlemen working at the pool were fantastic but the other staff definitely brought down the experience. I would also say the breakfast buffet needs a change every now and then. I heard a few people complain about the selections. Also after a flight and having to wait for check in, I was happy to be able to use the pool but I was very rudely denied a pool towel. I was a bit surprised by that and when I asked why I was told by a front desk staff with an attitude, that the towels are at the laundry. I was really looking forward to my stay and overall I had a good experience but the staff needs more customer service training. Beautiful views and great location. Overall 4/5

The main draw for this hotel is the location — it’s right in front of the beach and strategically located in the town of Santa Maria close to everything. The property and the rooms were fair, the grounds were kept reasonably well, like a 3.5/5 rating. The staff at reception had no personality at all, strange for being in front of the hospitality business. No one said good morning to me for the whole 3 days. One strange thing happened — I bring my own special soap as my skin is sensitive to most but the housekeeper just took the soap after the first day, like it was her souvenir. I checked with the front desk and they returned the soap to me immediately. From then on, I brought everything of any importance (medicine, unique toiletries) with me all the time. Finally, after the first night of 3, housekeeping stopped giving me new towels. At that point, it would have been too much of a bother to complain. They have a huge, long infinity pool in the property which is a nice feature even though there were areas where the plastic liner was bubbling off. Overall, fair hotel, great location, great pool, so-so experience, and don’t leave anything valuable in the room (they had a security box but it wasn’t working and who would think of leaving one’s personal soap in there???

We really liked the hotel, breakfast was substantial and in a beautiful location. Sunbeds were always available, including in the shade. Beachfront bar beautiful spot to watch the sunset. It is possible that we were just unlucky, especially as we arrived late in the evening to a fully booked hotel for a short stay, but we were disappointed by a number of aspects of our room. Though we had booked a double room, we were given a twin room and when we queried were told just to push the beds together and they would sort in the morning. It was 'sorted' by plugging the gap between the beds but it left light switches in the middle of the headboard that meant we were woken in the night when they were accidentally pressed. We asked for someone to come and unlock the safe in the room and, though they said they would send someone, this didn't happen so we were unable to use it. The ground floor room had the advertised terrace but it faced directly onto a road with cars parked immediately in front. The wind made a whistling sound like a kettle whistle throughout the day and night which we needed earplugs to block out. During the day there was loud construction work directly outside our door as they were repairing a lift. We really liked the hotel, and the maids kept the room spotless, but it was a shame that our room was only really suitable for showering and sleeping.

Idéalement placé. Bain de soleil sur la plage avec un bar à l'ombre. Petit déjeuner copieux. Nous préférons ce type d'établissement que les gros hôtels all exclusive.
