This hotel is one of the nicer hotels here in downtown San Jose. The staff was outstanding. The room was great. I do recommend them. The only drawback I could see was that they didn’t have but one outlet to charge my phone with, and it was in the bathroom that was the only complaint I might’ve had other than that was perfect.
Friendly staff. A big shout out to Andres who has a wonderful smile. He helped us with directions and gave us pamplets of places to see. Also adviced on wearing our backpack in the front and being careful with our cell phones.
The room could use a more thorough cleaning. Found a sock under the bed.
My stay was otherwise comfortable.
Hotel was very clean with free breakfast and hot showers room service was excellent

You get what you pay for and this property was pretty underwhelming. The staff were the best part of the hotel, as they were accomodating and kind even when there was a language barrier. However, the room was very dated and linens / towels rather old and used. We had only one working plug (none of the USBs worked) and the bathroom was quite musty. The following day we lost power right after breakfast (which was good, I liked that it included breakfast) so it was unfortunate as we couldn't charge our devices. Granted, this wasn't the fault of the hotel. I think this is an acceptable place for a one night stay in transit to somewhere else (which is why we chose it). It's not too expensive and the location is close to the Central Market and Bus Station. But manage expectations as the rooms are old and you may not be that comfortable.
The staff was wonderful, very friendly and accommodating. The rooms are small, but we enjoyed the food. Special thanks to the restaurant and front desk for helping arrange transportation!
Staff was super friendly. They didn’t have elevators. They had a restaurant attached to the hotel. It was close to shopping centers and restaurants. The hotel was clean.

Allowed me to park in front of hotel. Nice room and breakfast
Hotel Milan is a nicely renovated small hotel. The room was small but well arranged. We had everything we needed. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was very good. We will stay there again on our next visit!
Great property, super helpful staff, and a really good location with easy access to local transportation. Uber is very available in the area, and all the drivers know where this hotel is located. It's a little noisy, because you're in the city, but very tolerable. Staff is great, though most of them don't know much English, so make sure you have an app ready for translation if you haven't dusted up on your Spanish in a while (several workers did know some English).
The location was great. You are close to everything. The room was below basic and the restroom was super tiny. I'm already a short guy but I felt even shorter in that restroom. It is a really bad set up. The area around the property is way to noisy. At 4am someone outside was smashing metal it sounded like they were working in a shop. It is way to noisy in this area. Your sleep will he compromised. Convenience is all this hotel is good for. I also got food poisoning from their partner restaurant next door.
As a single traveler, this small but clean boutique style hotel was exactly what I had hoped for during my stay in San Jose. Every day I booked an adventure, so I didn't hang out all day. The staff was exceptional, especially Melissa and Brandon! The restaurant next door was perfect for a quick bite after all day excursions. After taking a taxi downtown, I was able to walk back easily. The group tours were excellent, too!
This is not a resort location, but a better option than a hostel for small groups or individuals ready to explore Costa Rica and have a safe place to stay.
The staff very nice and proactive. Not expensive. The issue of no A/C it’s something to consider, noise from outside the rooms and very small parking. But very well located for people in transit

Overall, the hotel offered good value for the price paid. However, the rooms lack exterior-facing windows, with the only windows opening onto the main covered hallway.
As a budget-friendly hotel, it is popular among locals for short stays, including one-night stands. To clarify, this is not a designated “sex hotel” but rather a decent, affordable option that some guests use for that purpose. As a result, you may occasionally hear some intimate sounds from neighboring rooms.
One disappointment was finding dried urine drops on the toilet, though aside from that, the room was clean. Another issue was the morning noise level—housekeeping staff were talking loudly, and their radio communications were set at a high volume. I strongly recommend that management equip staff with headsets or earpieces to minimize disruptions for guests.
Had an AC room on 3rd floor. It was only $2 more than no AC. Not sure why so many bad reviews for this. Yeah, stairs. I was in CR for two months and never even saw an elevator. Why complain? Place was clean, employees were helpful, breakfast was good (get a ticket from the front desk), so close to the bus to Nicoya peninsula. Good deal.
