Nous avions réservés une nuit a l aller vers le coté caraibe et une nuit a notre retour 3 semaines plus tard. Apres avoir passé la premiere nuit a cet endroit malpropre et dans un cartier remplis détinérants nous avons décidé de louer un autre hotel plis près de l aéroport et ce meme si notre réservatio était non remboursable. Il était hors de question que nous esseyons de dormir a nouveau dans un petit lit en mauvais état, dans des draps usés et tachés. Je ne reccomande pas cet hotel et n y retournerai jamais...

Pros: bus terminal around the corner, walking distance to central market, museums. Cons: ghetto area, homeless people, garbage in street, smells of urine outside area, extremely noisy inside/outside. Advised by local police not to walk around area after dark. On Tuesday morning March 10, 2026 I woke up with bites on back, arms, stomach and face. Asked staff to change bed linens which they did. Wednesday morning March 11, 2026 I woke up due to itching and discovered more bites on my thigh. I asked for a room change which they did. The manager emailed me respectfully that I should change my sleepwear as they have not had any issues with bedbugs since opening. After the insinuating and offensive email remark I Left 2 days earlier for another hotel.

Das war das schlimmste Hotel was ich jemals besucht habe. Das Zimmer war klein, schmutzig und sehr renovierungsbedürftig. Es gibt nur ein kleines Mini Fenster was aber nichtmal nach draußen geht. Die Bettwäsche und das Laken hatten Flecken und waren schmutzig, wir wollten nicht in den Betten schlafen! Das Personal hingegen war super freundlich und sehr hilfsbereit! Das war leider auch das einzig positive an dieser Unterkunft Auch das Frühstück war eine Katastrophe…

Good place to stay near the North bus station but there was a loud banging sound (from the air conditioner?) every 30 minutes or so the whole night which kept waking us up. Also the sound insulation of the room is terrible and you'll be up with the 6am construction sounds. Otherwise, it was fine.

Hotel Milan Costa Rica was very nice for the price, conveniently located in San Jose, and the free breakfast was very good. Walls are very thin but luckily most guests were quiet in their rooms and in the hallways.
