This is a step above a hostel. The room was very bare bones. Just a bed (with one thin pillow and sheet), small table, bathroom & cement floors. We didn’t have additional pillows or blankets. Our room didn’t have towels. There isn’t a front desk to work with. The security guard helped us get towels & reassured us of the water tank leaking into our room (but did not provide anything to mop up the floor). We checked out with the cook. The hotel is located in a decent area which is a quick walk to all the bars & restaurants.

Great stay in San Juan Del Sur

We really enjoyed stay at Nuestra Casa, it was close to everything and all the staff is great. Teresa is gem. The pool was clean and refreshing, breakfast was satisfying and the sunset view from the lookout at the top of the building was exceptional. We would stay again.

Could be improved stay in SJS

Property needs a refurbishment and simple upgrades like tiles for the shower and pool floor - little fixes will go a long way and improve overall look and feel of the place warranting the price it has on it - currently it doesn’t feel like good value for money especially compared to other hotels in the city who have better location and look newer and more refurbished. Apparently the owner owns four different properties in the city - instead of expanding and overcharging for the rooms maybe he or she can spend more time reinvesting in existing properties; staff was great and breakfast delicious.

Great option for SJDS!

We had a great visit staying at Nuestra Casa. The hotel is small, which kept things quiet, and the vibe was friendly with other hotel guests. The breakfast was HUGE compared to other hotels and the AC was strong in the rooms. Overall clean, simple rooms. The pool was a reprieve from the hot temps. The hill up to the hotel was steep but manageable on foot (short distance). Would return for another stay.

Keep in mind this property is in a residential area. Neighbor had a barking dog... at night :( It was very close to the beach and the "business" area. You can walk to everything you need.

The pictures are nice but do not reflect the actual look. The property is very dated. Hard to find in the dark no signage. We arrived after a very long day of travel. The security guard let us in took our payment immediately. Before we even had a look at the room. although it was clean- smelled of pine sol? it was hot- A/C was not on. once on it was loud we dropped out luggage off and went to find some food. The hill to get down/up was very steep. and difficult to walk with a bad knee. Tried to cancel the next day due to this and was not able too. We had to pay for the 4 nights This is soo upsetting if it was explained about location we wouldn't have chosen it. Very upsetting we are seniors and on a budget.

We had the top floor room with a balcony & view of the ocean. It had a great bed. The breakfasts were very nice. Unfortunately, there was no hot water on the morning that we were checking out. That may have been citywide.

The fact that no cleaning was done we slept in the same sheet for our two-night stay no additional toilet paper was provided. I was a bit disappointed the stuff was nice but I don't know how this is run by the manager or property manager.

The hotel is clean, staff were wonderful, the cooked to order included breakfast was great. The location is very walkable to everything if you are healthy, unfortunately I'm not, so because it is on a steep hill and the heat/humidity, I required a taxi every time coming or going. I wish this had been disclosed because I ended up spending more time at home than planned. There is no hand rail for entering/exiting the swimming pool which is dangerous, the concrete floors are very slippery when wet, I had a lot of difficulty and was very grateful when the security man helped me a few times.

We stayed 2 nights here. It is like a small hotel, apparently a sister hotel to Casa Oro. The location was nice and slightly off the business of the restaurants but only a short 5 min walk to all amenities. Staff only spoke Spanish but some English. We were the only guests when we went and there was always someone available for help or questions in the main area. We loved being only a few minutes from the beach, shops and restaurants. The area felt very safe and secure. Our only issue was we had many bugs in our room. We didn’t know if this was expected but we had ants everywhere including in the sheets and bedding. Just something to keep in mind if you’re a bit squeamish. Otherwise the staff was lovely and accommodating during our stay.

*BE CAREFUL IF YOU ARE CHECKING IN AT NIGHT*

To be honest I did not want to write this review but I cant! Its too much! I booked this hotel because it said only they have reception 24/7 and I called and made sure too and they said I can check in at 1 at night. I drove with a taxi 2.5 hours here, got there at 1AM at night and nobody was there!! Spent 30 minutes calling nobody answers!! And I was outside and it was raining bad!! So imagine I started looking for a place to stay at 1AM at night, And I got lucky to find one after 1 hour search in the rain!! Next day in the morning I went back to the hotel and told the lady what happened, looked at me like I was lying and called her manager, so they ended up refunding me the first night and checked me in, to be honest I am pissed because they gave me the attitude like I was lying saying the bodyguard is here all night, even after showing them the unanswered calls I made, right I got back the money for the first night but an apology is minimum but all I got was an attitude no apology, to be honest they should have just gave me the rest of the nights free for what I went through!! I will not remove this review till they refund me for everything it was terrible!! On top of that I had a separate reservation for another 2 more nights (I booked same room type) and the lady was like "well we need to move you to a different room because thats what it shows in my calendar", what??? Its terrible! Added pics of the unanswered calls 1 at night!!
