"This is a very old mom and pop motel that has been updated. The room was very clean and had a comfortable bed. Laminate flooring...no nasty carpet. The bathroom/shower is very clean but very outdated but functional. Big Bear Lodge is a motel, central to several parks, shopping and restaurants. If you want a room with coffee, fridge,microwave and air conditioning, central to parks and restaurants this would be a good motel for your next stay."

"This is an old Days Inn motel that was bought out by Wyndham. It has been remodeled and modernized. I love the fact there was still the old school air conditioning in the room and we could actually control the temperature and fan! And kudos for the simple light switch that didn’t require a card to activate. It was a clean, comfortable stay."

"Cute house in convenient location, but BEWARE the train horn at 4 a.m.! Alas this is not something anticipated and it is NOT the fault of the excellent hosts. But the house is located one block from a train crossing without gates and for 3 nights we were awakened by the loud blast of a train going through each crossing (there are about 4 of them about 2 or 3 blocks from the house). The train has to blow its horn at crossings without gates and the first night it woke us out of a dead sleep we thought it was a tornado siren. Scared us!The house itself is pet friendly, and has gorgeous wood floors, stocked kitchen and coffee bar, two tvs, a nice writing desk by the window, two bedrooms and two ac units in windows. We had the heat on for one chilly morning and it works great. Loved the front porch with all the windows overlooking the street, and there is a fenced backyard for pets/kids. Plenty of hot water for showers as well. Because it's in a neighborhood with sidewalks, it makes for a terrific walk in the morning as well. In summary, we loved the house and the location, except for the train horn waking us up."

"Clearly - these people care about the place and they stay here themselves. Very clean and well stocked. Kitchen had everything you could possibly need - including condiments, spices, oils, baggies, aluminum foil... and so on. Really good toilet paper (wish every place had this), supplies for the washer/dryer, coffee, mints etc. And the lake was much closer than the pictures suggest. Be careful - some of the rocks are pretty slippery. It was great to hear the waves at night. About the only complaint I had was the Detroil Lions grill cover. Makes me question the owners character (Daaaa Bears!)"

"Expect small rustic cabins. The host is friendly and caring. Tight parking especially if you have a trailer. Overall a good value, we had fun."

"Huge home can accommodate extended families. Very comfortable rooms, lots of different areas for gathering. Literally across a private gravel road from Lake Huron. Gorgeous sunrise views out the huge patio windows upstairs and down. Both with large decks. Great game room to keep everyone entertained. And they have kayaks to use to for a nice tour.You can see the lighthouse just a few miles down the coast. And visit Cedarbrook Trout Farms to catch yourself a fantastic trout dinner."
