The room was excellent. The location was excellent. They had a Jacuzzi and a nice pool. The spa was minimal. The services were excellent only a steam room. I wouldn’t call it a five star.

Very nice but came at a high price. Parking was a bit annoying dealing with a parking garage that charged regardless of staying at the hotel, we had our room forgotten to be cleaned one day but they made it right after letting them know. Good central location but less peaceful than other options at this price.

We had a very pleasant day at the Hotel Californian. I would highly recommend it. The location is perfect, and everyone who works there is very nice and helpful. We use the hot tub one day and pool and it was a beautiful view.

The bed was the most comfortable we have ever slept in. One criticism: Shower needs a safety bar installed because there is nothing to hold on to and the floor is slippery when wet. Older folks like us need that.

The property is indeed unique - - beautiful architecture - our room however was extremely overpriced for having it face a parking lot and garbage area . The room itself was clean although the carpet had several spots all over. For 1300 / night I would expect more, at least a bigger property with more to do … The pool area was the best thing we experienced in the hotel although they didn’t really have food or drink service - waiters would show up maybe once / hour. They are located in the best Santa Barbara Funk Zone as it’s called but that also within 2 min walk of commercial transportation train tracks.

The property was very clean. The staff was not very knowledgeable or helpful. The tvs don’t work for streaming devices we had their engineer Eric, who was excellent, try to fix the tv but couldn’t. The setting is antiquated. The walls are too thin and you can hear everything. The pool had a party, we stayed in the pool building and it was so loud and thumping we reconsidered moving hotels. The restaurants have strange hours and do not appear to be a part of the hotel. The building configuration is hard to maneuver and even harder to get help from staff. The front desk and the texting service was useless. Overall very disappointing and definitely not a five star hotel.
