Radisson San Jose-Costa Rica

Barceló San José
8/10 Good
"We stayed here for the second arm of our vacation. The pool areas were well-maintained. The landscape of biodiversity created a rainforest vibe. The lobby was open and furniture was well situated for lounging around. Clean rooms but outdated with a hint of opulence- so I was not too bothered by the old fashioned decor. The breakfast was average, and lean towards meat lovers and limited vegetarian options. There were no eggs on the buffet, so if you wanted eggs, you have to wait in line to order it. One night, we decided to dine at the buffet, but a 1 minute look at the food items, we decided to eat elsewhere. Another night we decided to get room service, but the hotel phone were inoperable so I had to walk to the lobby area to order. I order seafood rice and it was awful. Big chunks of crab shells (almost chipped a few teeth). The staff was friendly. The shuttle ride to the airport was efficient. The hotel was a bit further from the city center and not many restaurants that you can walk too."

"Staff was amazing at check in. I arrived very early and they did their best to accommodate me. Also, the bar manager was very personable. All around great stay as it is close to museums and parks."

"I really loved this hotel! It was beautiful and unique. It was the first place we stayed after landing in Costa Rica, and it was such a wonderful welcome. The breakfast was delicious, and the room was comfortable and clean. The staff were very helpful and friendly. I would 100% stay here again!"
Hotel Santo Tomás

"The inside of the hotel was safe and clean. Beautiful woodwork throughout. It was formerly a coffee plantation owners home and has been restored as such. The pool area was really nice, with places to relax and meet up. Comfortable rooms and linens with friendly staff. 3 options for fresh cooked-to-order breakfast. Important to note though that we were told breakfast started at 7:00, but that is the time to order. One morning we were first there and did not get served until 7:45. If you have an early morning tour scheduled, plan accordingly. Important also: we did not feel safe walking around the area of the hotel after dark, and were told that by our Uber driver. We felt that way about most of San Jose. As I mentioned though, the hotel and parking area is gated. Would recommend the hotel with those things in mind. Short walk from the museums and teatro."
