Casa Uno, Beachfront in Lovely Playa Ocotal.

Casa Uno has a fabulous beachfront location within the comfortable community of Los Almendros de Ocotal. The calm, perfect-for-swimming waters and the black sand beach of Playa Ocotal await you just steps out the back door through a small canopy of tropical shade trees. These waters offer enjoyable snorkeling right off the beach behind Casa Uno. Children and adults also love to stroll the nearby tide pools which teem with visible, fascinating marine life at low tide. Out Casa Uno’s front door, up a stairway to a stunning view of Ocotal Bay sits the largest of the three swimming pools in the development. Casa Uno also has its own private, jacuzzi-sized plunge pool in its landscaped backyard. The office, right next door, has a welcoming and knowledgeable staff for reception, visitor information and 24 hour security. The ever popular Father Rooster beach-side restaurant is a quick 2 minute walk from the house.

In the living space of Casa Uno, you can enjoy cooling A/C or open the windows and allow the warmth and sounds of the sea to relax and connect you to this sweet spot in Costa Rica. All of the bedrooms have air-conditioning, ceiling fans and ocean views. The main living area and the lanai each have 3 ceiling fans for a pleasant “sea breeze.” The kitchen/dining/living area and balcony plus the master bedroom and 2 baths (master and hall bath) comprise the entry floor of Casa Uno. The other two bedrooms and bath are on the lower, walk-out-to-the-beach level. This set-up nicely accommodates solo travelers and couples, or families and groups up to 8 people.

Casa Uno is fully equipped with kitchen appliances and utensils. For those wishing to do some cooking, excellent grocery stores in the nearby town of Playas del Coco will satisfy most menus. The house also has a washer, dryer, internet, and a Smart TV. All linens plus beach towels are provided. Maid service for your visit can be requested directly from the office for a modest additional charge.

Our 44 unit beach development has a combination of vacationers, long term renters and residents, so it feels relaxed, cared for and safe in Los Almendros. Weddings commonly take place on the beach behind Casa Uno which speaks also to the romantic and intimate qualities of our location. Casa Uno provides an easy going get-away to unwind and restore and/or a perfect jumping off spot to take on some of Costa Rica’s fun activities and adventures.

Activities abound in Costa Rica. Tours for Deep Sea Fishing, Sailboat/Catamaran trips, Scuba Diving and Snorkeling tours often leave from our bay. Rentals for kayaks, stand-up paddle boards and high quality snorkel gear are also accessible. Within about an hour of Casa Uno, adventure activities such as zip-lining, ATV’s, horseback riding, jet skis, surfing, and tubing are available; in addition, there are lower adrenaline choices like a mangrove tour, an animal sanctuary, hikes in the national park of Rincon de la Vieja Volcano, mud bath/hot springs, and simply exploring other unique nearby beaches. The Guanacaste area has a couple of golf courses as well. An excellent variety of dining choices, shopping and entertainment can be found in the nearby towns of Playa Hermosa and Coco.

Ocotal is an easy 35 minute drive from Liberia Airport, and just 10 minutes past the more bustling town of Coco. It is a solid 3½ - 4 hour drive from SJO airport which just gives an excuse to see more cool stuff along the way in this amazing country. A car is recommended for the ease of getting around and exploring the wonders of the area, and Casa Uno has a parking space at the house and other nearby parking in the development. It is also possible to rent a golf cart or use local taxis/Uber, shuttles, private and outfitter’s transport to get where you need to go from Casa Uno. Hiring transport is one way to add a strong local flavor to your experience.

In whatever way you choose to get around, for sure take some moments to understand the warm, good-humored pura vida culture in Costa Rica.

Relaxing Family Stay

Beautiful and well maintained property. Beach is accessible right from the back yard. Although it is a public beach, it felt like a private beach as there were not many people there. Right next to a great restaurant and 10 minute drive to Coco beach area where there are lots of options for dining/shopping. Check-in/out was great with attentive property manager, Sergio.

Everyone was very helpful!!! Great location-right on the beach. You have your own private pool. Liz was always quick to respond to my questions and inform me about things to do. She recommended Marlin Rayado for a fishing guide. They didn't disappoint!!! We charted with them for 2 days with one of the days ending with an bbq on a beach-awesome organization and food was out of this world!!!

Double Honeymoon!

Property is right on the beach! Had amazing time Snorkeling saw multiple species of fish, starfish and eel. The house was clean and perfect for our needs. Sergio and Liz were great host, extremely easy to deal with. I will stay in this house everytime I come to the beach in Costa Rica.Oh I cant forget the monkeys and Iguanas!

Great place

Great experience at this house! Great location for kids. Being very close to a beach, pool, and playground. Power went out for about an 1.5 hours the first night but was easy to manage. Definitely bring bug spray as this location being so close to water we had lots of mosquito around. There is a closet full of sand toys my boys loved to play with along with other beach necessities. Would stay here again!

Incredible Location

We had a fabulous stay. The location is so ideal as you can walk back and forth from the house to the beach so quickly. The communication with Liz and Sergio was very quick as we had a little issue with a skunk that came in the door with us. Yikes! They were very helpful and we evacuated the skunk. So close to Father Rooster's also...a favorite of ours! We loved the house and definitely plan to stay again.

Do yourself a favor and book this place

From the outset, we were thoroughly impressed. Sergio is lovely, and his adorable chocolate lab George made check in for our 3 year old extra special, as he is the sweetest dog! We loved everything about our stay. 1. It's RIGHT on the beach, but quite private 2. The large swimming pool is directly behind the unit, so quite accessible for our 3 year old( it has a great kid's area in the pool as well where he could splash around and enjoy himself) 3. The Father Rooster restaurant is about a 30 second walk away. While a bit pricy, the food is solid, the ambience is perfect, and there was live music to dance to on Friday. We absolutely adored Ocotal, and would highly recommend this place to anyone interested.

Private Oasis

This property was top notch. It literally had EVERYTHING you you could possibly need for a beach vacation. The beds were super comfortable and the bedding was the softest that I have ever felt. No detail was overlooked by the property owners! We liked the location so much that we didn't even venture out to other beaches. One half of the beach had tide pools, black sand, and fun waves while the other half had tan sand and perfect swimming conditions. We looked at other beaches nearby and decided to spend our time at the beach by the house. We also enjoyed the community pool. Father Rooster's next door is a must, delicious. You may also see monkeys, lizards, and a variety of birds. The only downside to this location was the ants and mosquitoes. We knew about these beforehand as they are common in this region. We had an awesome time here!

Pura Vida at its finest!

From the moment I saw this listing I knew I had to stay here. The owner’s, Liz and Sergio are so easy to communicate with! Easy check-in easy check-out and next door is the office with security. The office staff are so friendly and helpful. We had a family of five adults and this house fit us perfect. A nice grill, great kitchen to cook in. Snorkel gear was available if we wanted it, boogie boards and a couple chairs. I waited almost a whole year to get to Costa Rica and stay at this house. We savored every moment. It is a dream stay in sweet little Playa Ocotal. It was hard to leave, but hope we will be back again someday! Pura Vida! And thank you again Liz and Sergio for sharing this remarkable Casa with us! ❤️

Amazing!

I can't even begin to express how much we loved this villa. The location is spot on! Right on the beach, lots of wildlife to watch while sipping on your cup of coffee and eating breakfast in the morning. Wonderful breeze that comes in off the water and we all loved listening to the waves. We had Iguanas that came to greet us each morning so we started to name them. Snorkeling was awesome! We saw lots of different fish. And a definite highlight during our stay was seeing a very large group of howler monkeys that were moving around the trees within Los Almendros. They eventually ended up on the other side of Father Rooster's - there were about 20 and we were able to capture some close up pictures and videos. What a wonderful experience and right in our own backyard! We rented a golf cart which was perfect for getting back and forth to Playa del Coco. We booked a number of excursions and they all picked us up right at Los Almendros. And I cannot forget the hosts, both Liz and Sergio were fantastic! We can't wait to go back! Pura Vida!!!!

Noise disappointment

When we arrived everything was just as shown and the weekend was great. Liz the owner had said there was some construction next door but that hopefully it would be completed soon. Monday morning of our 28 day stay arrived and at eight am the sawing and grinding started , this lasted for three weeks every day from eight am until five pm., at one point I confronted the owner of the property, but he did not care. Why anyone would be allowed to do a total reconstruction of the inside and outside during prime vacation time is beyond me .The board of directors need to tweak their building by laws to only be done during the rainy season and not prime time. other than the constant noise for the better part of my vac. it was very nice there and would go back, but only after asking about construction . I was given back part of my money but that doesn't compensate for the loss of a peaceful vacation. Very disappointed. Greg Nussey.

Steps to the beach

I don’t even know where to begin… everything was great. Sergio met us at the gate-he gave us a thorough run down of the house, gave recommendations on where to go, by the end of our stay he became like family to us. One night he even gave our grown kids his phone number when they were going out partying, and said he’d come pick them up if they needed a ride home. He is truly a great, hard working, kind man. The house is so beautiful. Beds were comfy, there are beach towels, toys, chairs, snorkels, & a cooler for you to use. The bathrooms are beautiful. The kitchen had everything we needed for a family of 8 to cook every meal, there was even spices, salt & pepper, oil-everything we would forget at the grocery store would magically be on our shelf. 😂 Veranda was beautiful for watching birds, squirrels, horses on the beach, rainstorms, sunsets, it had ceiling fans, cute lighting….everything was spectacular! The black sand beach looks like black glitter, it is heavy, so perfect for creating sand sculptures- but don’t wear a light colored swimsuit..lol The crabs come out at night so bring a flashlight!! The is a little plunge pool in front and a big swimming pool out the back. There are also cards, games, books… the list goes on & on. There is no possible way this beautiful place could ever disappoint!!

We had the most wonderful time at Liz and Sergio’s place. Our flight was delayed by a day, and they offered us a free day in place of that, even though one member stated that first day! Sergio (the propert manager) and the property were amazing

If you are choosing thus propert for your stay, you are getting an amazing value. The place is right on the beach which is amazing. The house is aging a bit, but you can tell there is a lot of love in this house. Its very well cared for. Sergio, the property manager is probably one of the kindest humans I have ever met. He such a caring soul. He makes sure that you feel welcome and helps you understand the property details well. After talking with him it really puts you in that Costa Rica vibe of a country that is all about pura vida! We couldnt have asked for a better stay. Thx for everything Liz and Sergio. We truly enjoyed the property and your kindess as well.

Casa uno was a great place to stay! 2 minutes to a great dinner (Father Rooster), a beautiful beach, and relaxing pools. It's a lovely setting and had everything we needed. Grandmother, Daughter, Grandaughter retreat.

Wonderful stay in lovely Casa Uno on Ocotal Beach. Enjoyed the beautiful trees with birds, squirrels, iguanas keeping us entertained. Perfect three bedroom three bath home for us to spread out and enjoy nature. Being that it was the low season, we had the pool above our unit to ourselves as well as plenty of room on the beach to lie under a shade tree. The house had everything we needed and was in good repair. The owner hosts were amazing and communicated well before and during our visit.

A perfect home away from home

We truly enjoyed our stay at Casa Uno. We enjoyed father roosters, the sunsets, the tide pools, and the warm, calm waters! All of the pools are enjoyable and in very well condition. Sergio was phenomenal and so was Liz. The condo came equipped with everything we needed in the kitchen and the bedrooms. It even has some snorkel gear. We saw a lot of birds, lizards and monkeys at the condo. Our family of 6 were very comfortable. We would love to return someday!! Thank you Sergio and Liz!!

This property was exactly as advertised, right on the beach - snorkeling was phenomenal. Easy access to town. Sergio showed us everything we needed to know about the house upon our arrival and made us feel welcome and at home! We went to Diamanté adventure tours which we highly recommend! Very easy to get to. This was our 2nd stay here and we wouldn’t hesitate to come back or refer our friends to stay here as well. Puravida!

Casa Uno

Our stay at Casa Uno was great! The casa was spacious for our family of four and had everything we needed including our own dipping pool! The beds/sheets were so comfy and the bathrooms were fantastic. Sergio (the resort manager) greeted us with Costa Rican warmth and made us feel welcome. There is a wonderful restaurant within walking distance (Father Rooster's). and the casa is within steps to the beach and beautiful lava rock tidal pools. Also, Coco Beach is a short cab ride. Our host, Liz, was super responsive and even offered us to stay an additional night at Casa Uno when our outgoing flight was canceled. Highly recommend Casa Uno!

Amazing beachside house

This house is absolutely amazing, it is steps away from the beach and you can watch the sunset from the pool or the lanai. The rooms are spacious, bathrooms were all updated,clean and spacious. The beds were comfortable. Instructions for the washer and grill were written out which was extremely helpful. Check-in was a breeze and the front desk was great. Sergio gave us a lovely tour of the house and overview along with a few suggestions for food and grocery store. There were toys, boogie boards, floats, snorkeling gear. We will return to this house again!

Beautiful Cabana/Cottage. Clean and very welcoming home steps away from the beach. Only a 5-10 minute drive to Coco and all the activities there. It was really nice to be so close Coco then head back to quiet Ocotal in the evening. The Staff was always nice and super friendly.
