About this property

Walk to Forsyth Park: Quiet Historic Savannah Home, Porch, Dog Friendly

  • Summary:

A restored 1900s historic home on a quiet street in downtown Savannah, steps from Whitefield Square. Two upstairs bedrooms (one king bed, one queen bed), two full bathrooms upstairs and a half bath on the first floor, a full kitchen, a dining room, and a screened porch with a ceiling fan that looks out on a garden courtyard.

Sleeps 4. Self check-in with a smart lock. Free street parking, first come, first served. Hypoallergenic dogs up to 30 pounds are welcome for a $50 per dog, per day fee.

Forsyth Park is about a 15 minute walk, with restaurants, boutique shops and the historic squares of downtown nearby.

    The Space:

This is a two-story home from the 1900s with original hardwood floors, a new heating and cooling system and new windows. From the sidewalk you go up six steps to the yellow front door. There are no bedrooms on the first floor.

    First floor

Living room: A sofa and armchairs, built-in shelves, tall windows, and a decorative fireplace with a wall-mounted 50 inch Smart TV above it.

Dining room: A wooden table with black chairs that seats six.

Kitchen: Exposed brick, a GE stainless steel refrigerator with freezer, an electric stove and oven, a dishwasher and a microwave. You will find a Keurig and a drip coffee maker with coffee, a kettle, a toaster, a blender, pots and pans, dishes and silverware, wine glasses and a baking sheet, plus cooking basics such as oil, salt and pepper. A door from the kitchen opens to the screened porch.

Half bathroom: A pedestal sink, toilet, and the in-unit washer and dryer, with laundry detergent stocked.

Second floor (17 steps up from the foyer)

Primary bedroom: A king bed with premium linens, a Roku TV, a ceiling fan, and a private ensuite bathroom with a shower.

Second bedroom: A queen bed, a ceiling fan, a closet with double doors, and a mirror that opens to face the door for better lighting.

Bathrooms: Two full bathrooms are upstairs, including a bathtub.

Balcony: An upstairs balcony with two sun loungers.

    Outdoors

Screened porch: Off the kitchen, with a ceiling fan, a table and chairs, and a view of the garden courtyard. The courtyard is shared with other units in the HOA, mostly private residents, not a private garden. A charcoal grill and barbecue utensils are provided.

Comfort and extras: Fast wifi (600 Mbps) and an ethernet connection, a Bose sound system with Bluetooth, board games and books, central air conditioning and heating, a crib, hair dryer, iron, hangers and bed linens. A dedicated workspace is set up in the living room.

    Guest Access:

Guests have the whole home, the screened porch, the upstairs balcony, and free street parking in front of the building. The check-in guide in the Guest App has the details for getting in.

The home is in a building that also houses other spaces and local residents, it shares a wall with another home, and the courtyard is shared with other units in the HOA, mostly private residents. You may hear other guests coming and going. Please treat the space and the neighbors with respect. Quiet hours are 8 PM to 8 AM. Events are welcome if cleared and coordinated with us first. Smoking is allowed outside only, in designated spots.

    The Neighborhood:

The home is in Savannah's historic downtown on a quiet street. Whitefield Square is steps away, and Forsyth Park is about a 15 minute walk. Highly rated restaurants, boutique shops, historic monuments, squares and parks are all nearby, and River Street is about a 20 minute walk.

    Getting Around:

Street parking in front of the home is free and first come, first served. Please read the posted street sweeping signs (white and red) and move your car when needed to avoid a fine.

Most of downtown Savannah is walkable from the home.

    Other Things to Note:

House rules in short: 4 guests maximum. Minimum age to book is 21. Check-in is 4 PM and check-out is 10 AM. Smoking is allowed outside only, in designated spots. Events must be cleared and coordinated with us first. Quiet hours are 8 PM to 8 AM. Please leave your shoes at the door.

Pets: Hypoallergenic dogs up to 30 pounds are welcome, one dog per stay, for $50 per dog, per day. Dogs must be crated when left unattended in the unit. Service animals are welcome under ADA guidelines, and emotional support animals pay the pet fee.

Stairs: There are six steps from the sidewalk up to the front door, and 17 steps from the foyer up to the bedrooms and bathrooms. Both bedrooms are upstairs.

The front door auto-locks when pulled shut tightly from outside, give it a tug afterward to confirm it is locked. Exterior security cameras cover the front door and back door.

We spray for bugs every quarter, but you may still see palmetto bugs, wasps and other insects. Keeping windows and doors shut, eating only at the dining table and keeping trash in the trash can will help. Starter amounts of toilet paper, paper towels, dish soap and laundry detergent are stocked.

House quirks: To run the fan with the light off in the primary bedroom, turn the switch off and then back on. The upstairs porch light switch is in the primary bedroom. The mirror in the second bedroom opens toward the door when you pull gently on its right side. To open the microwave after use, press the red Unlock button in the middle of the keypad, then the large silver button.

    Interaction with Guests:

We live close by and are available day and night through the app or by phone.

Check-in is self check-in. Your codes and instructions are sent through the app at 3 PM on your arrival day, and we ask that you wait until check-in time to enter.
